Dodgy dell's

Right I'm so finding some photo editing software and making myself a signature... anyway I guess people that are stuck with Dell desktops should be grateful they have changed since the 90s.

I had an XPS back in the day.

PSU fireworked and fried it all, just outside of dell's warranty.

FML.

The hard drives survived, actually. Or at least the seagate one did, think the western digital died.. can't remember.

I think their business stuff is great, out of all the suppliers we have to deal with at work Dell is definately the best. You get bad parts in any PC that will just fail and with Dell they will just get part sent out to you or PC replaced if under warrenty with little to no hassel. They last pretty well too we still have some 5-6 year old Dells that were slowly replacing but they are holding up.

A dell dimension 9200/XPS 410 was the first computer I modded. I changed the ram and put a q6600 in. It was a factory refurb, or damaged in transit, something like that. Either way, it was a decent enough budget computer and never let me down.

Have nothing but good things to say about dell stuff to be honest. look after it and it generally seems to last. Acer and samsung on the other hand have caused me no end of head aches.

Good fan of most Dell equipment I've used, most of the new Optiplex's have seemed alright.
Forgetting the comedy GX cap issue I think I've only had issue with some of the Optiplex 780 and the Latitude D420/30.
Their machines are extremely easy to work on, and seem more reliable than some of the competitors.

Easy to write them off, but the reason you probably see more with issues is because there are just far more of them out there.

All the Dell stuff I've used has been great. Had (still have somewhere) a Dell Dimension 2400 I think it was. Very quiet, good performance at the time, no problems at all!

My brother got an Inspiron 1545 from the Outlet store a few years back and its been great too. In fact I just ordered my mum a newer one from the Outlet too, will be here next week, so I'm hoping the luck keeps up.

I've personally owned 2 dells and so has my sister, never had any problems with them that were specifically because of the make, in fact I think the only problem we ever had was when someone spilt hot chocolate on my sisters laptop :p

Have nothing bad to say about their laptops mind, except maybe that mine gets too hot for my liking >:[! But I guess that's what happens when you're an idiot that specs a mobile fermi for a coursework laptop -_-!

On the other hand, like I said my xps was a disaster. My sister had some slim model of inspiron, a white appley-looking thing. The kind of pc a girl would buy. So anyway, it broke too. But that wasn't dell's fault. It was a PBKAC involving her freakloser of a boyfriend using her pc while in my house.

I'm surprised there is quite a lot of hate for Dells. My family and I have had Dell desktops for many years and I can honestly say I've never seen a single problem with any of them. The build quality is robust, they are extremely quiet and the components are running strong to this day.

Dells

I absolutley hate Dell PC's

Especially because they adapt legacy MOBO's, PSU's etc, so you have to buy their overpriced bespoke parts

Avoid at all costs

Regards

Lew
