Does a 144Hz monitor make a difference

Been running a Benq XL2411T for a good while now, probably a year and a half and I couldn't go back. I noticed the difference immediately the moment I moved the Win7 cursor and saw how smooth it danced across the screen.

Only real issue is apart from that, there isn't anything else about this monitor to write home about and I would ideally prefer an IPS panel over TN that are obviously so common.

There's one issue with some multiplatform games (*cough* console-ports *cough*) being capped at certain limits like 30FPS or 60FPS. But you should usually be able to unlock the framerate.

Got the benq XL2411Z connected it, set to 144Hz and the difference I noticed straight away. Played CS GO / rocket league and the difference was good - So smooth

But the monitor has quite a few stuck pixels and bad uniformity, thinking of getting a replacement or extending my budget to £350 for a gsync monitor

Return it within your 14 days. Don't take a chance on RMA due to stuck pixels or you could end up stuck with the monitor depending on the CS you deal with.

When I bought my Swift I was bricking it as I already had to RMA a 1440 non Gsync monitor previously.

Backlight bleed, dead pixels... it's all a lottery and the reason why I hate buying new monitors.

I've got a replacement monitor coming (ordered from a site that's known for it's great customer service)

If the other one has stuck pixels then I will consider a different monitor

Personally dont see it as "amazing". Its a improvment but I wouldnt get your expectations up to high.

This. All these so called 'amazing' things really are average at best imo. I have a 144hz monitor and see little difference over my previous 60hz. Cursor updates are more smooth and that's about it. Oh, and Bioshock Infinite plays a tad better but nothing amazing.

But if you're itching to buy something. It's an improvement in theory.

Avoid it if possible till all monitor's and tv's support 100+ htz refresh rates. I game and have purposely avoided any monitor's over the std 60. Ok I'm aware I maybe missing something (well definitely) but if I see it, I'll need to replace many many many monitor's and tv's I own. I got and have ocd with audio equipment and bit rates etc etc years back and it's been a costly experience. Everyone to their own I guess but I'm happy at 60htz 1440p and 4k. I see a gsync unit and run for the hills... Ha ha.

You never really provided a valid reason to not get a high Hz monitor.

Why would you need to replace many many many monitors and TVs? When you play a game do you have them all displaying the game at once and require them all to have the same Hz?
