Does anyone else refuse to pay for Xbox multiplayer?

I bought the original Xbox and the 360 pretty much just for Live. Usually look out for discount codes and normally pay about £27 or so for a years sub. Well worth it in my opinion.

same here. when my first 360 got banned, i wasnt using it for months...bought another one last week for online use only

LOL, that's funny. there's a real difference between being able to afford it and considering it to be good value for money - and there's a fair few people who have replied within this thread who need to realise this.

I really hope you've watched all 5 episodes, the creator brings up the Melee system in Halo3 and Martyrdom in CoD4, not only that its hilarious in doing it, well I think so :D

Fiver a month isn't bad i suppose but in terms of getting a game going xbox live is way behind pc gaming, when I first got on xbox live I was like "where is the server browser!!!"
p2p is annoying.

I pay a fiver a month and I hardly play online at all (mostly enjoy single player or coop). I'm just too lazy to phone up and cancel lol.

I'm kinda hoping a game will come out that I can really get behind again like Civ or an age of empires type game etc.

Do it...if only to rob those scumbags of money that they do not deserve :D

Im assuming thats the only reason they have such a dumb system in place as there seems to be no reasonable explanation for it

There is an explanation and that is to get as much money as possible from every 360 owner. They want your money from the console sale and the game sale. They want your money for Xbox Live, they want the extra revenue from over priced accessories. They want you to buy groups of points rather than buying stuff for the actual price, so you have additional points left over after buying some DLC and you end up spending it on some crappy avatars etc.

There have even been developers that have wanted to release extra content for their games for free but Microsoft won't allow it because they want their cut from the extra charges for DLC.

All of this makes you realise WHY they are one of the richest companies in the world, because they don't give squat away without making profit on it.
