It really does depend on how good the dentist is.
I avoided the dentist for years after a nightmare filling, Trust me guys, untill you get a bad dentist, you dont know the meaning of the word "pain".
but have been back to a new private one recently out of sheer desperation
( I need about £2000 worth of work doing, lucky ive now got insurance) and they are great, really re-assuring.
Last time I went they removed a nerve, which sounds barbaric, but apart from the initial injection I didnt feel a thing.
The great thing about dental insurance is you can pick and chose your dentist, if one has a poor attitude/approach, you can simply ditch them and find a professional.
I still have to psyche myself up to go, due to ingrained mental scars, but am much more confident about dentists now.
