Does something need to be done about dogs?

I don’t think it will be given priority, because the current government are helpless.
Then it's futile. I hardly have any hope the next government will be any more competent as they start their own infighting once in.

It's why I asked earlier. We need knowledge on how to take practical, best percentage action when these events start to unfold, because they will until these dogs are bred out of existence. A good chuck of them will be owned by responsible owners, or even people that will become responsible once the ban is in place, so the muzzles will hopefully be on. It's the escapees and the non-responsible owners that will continue to be a threat for the years to come. We need to know how to defend ourselves, others, children and other animals when the attacks take place.

Agree with that, I'd say mandatory training for dogs over a certain weight, say 20KG and over.

I'd say mandatory insurance too.

I also got attacked by a yorkshire terrier today, man it was pathetic :(
I got bitten by one of the a few times, i think it bit me 3x before i realized it was not my trainer digging in in a funny way!

Bully dog meet organised to protest against the XLBully ban have banned Bullies from attending after backlash.

The poster for the event looks like parody but really isn't.

You cant make this stuff up.

Agree with the ban, disagree they shouldn't have been culled. The type of people who tend to own these dogs will think they're better than the authorities anyway, and won't comply with the muzzling and neutering anyway. Nothing but a council estate dog.
You’re wrong.

There’s plenty of owners of these dogs who are great owners who will respect the changes to keep their dog safe.

Typical with this forum, people just love to jump on the band wagon.

Ha,

Local moron Jake Harris previously told BirminghamLive the meet-up was being organised because of the "need to show people that the XL Bullies are not the problem". He continued: "It’s all about the owners - I've got three XL Bullies and not one of them would hurt a soul."

Won't hurt a soul until one them escapes one day and attacks any walking by the house.

Yes and I reckon a complete scrapping of motor vehicles is needed due to idiots getting behind the wheel and killing people. Because you know, every person is an idiot just like every dog is.

We do ban the sale of a car models if there not safe and older cars have to be MOT'd every year to make sure their roadworthy. So long as your not banned from owning dogs pretty much anyone can get a licence to own any sort of dog they wish (provided it's not on the dangerous dog list).

Personally I think if your going to own a dog who's bloodline is from the guarding and protecting other animals/livestock from predators you there should be more stringent checks in place. Potential owner's should have to explain why they need such an animal and prove they can control it and have secure premises which it can't escape from if left alone.

I do tend to agree. The simple fact is that most dogs like this are bought because they are intimidating. If ever there was a "wrong reason" then that's it.

Perhaps all dogs should be muzzled outdoors. It's Draconian, I know, but there isn't much of a reason why they shouldn't be and a perfectly good reason why they should be.

Noticed more dog poo not being picked up since the pandemic. Are these from lockdown dogs? Most of these lockdown dogs are in households that didn’t own a dog before.

People should have thought about buying a dog in lockdowns more. As it’s the same people who buy a dog for Christmas.

A dog is for life. Not just for Christmas and lockdowns.

We don’t have the numbers of police on the beat anymore to enforce it.

Wouldn’t work anyway, the responsible dog owners would comply and the nobheads wouldn’t bother.

Perhaps we should stop cladding the world in cotton wool just because a few ******** humans can't keep from ******* it up for the rest of us...

Easy enough to say until its your kid that's attacked by a "friendly" dog whilst playing in the park

I don't think you've really thought through what you've just typed there properly (or at all...)

Just saw a FB video where a guy smacked attacking dogs with a what looks like a plank of wood. Knocked them out cold.

Would post it but some funky commentary.

Looks like they aren't allowing dogs to go on the walk.

Probably the fear that if something went wrong it could literally be a gore fest.

Imagine if 100 XLs started fighting. It would be unimaginable.

Even the organisers must see the risk.
