Does something need to be done about dogs?

This is silly...

This idea, that we can create a perfect society where nobody dies from a preventable reason, by banning every single possible way in which a preventable death can be caused.

I mean, if we're all going to end up being plugged into cryo pods and fed by a machine, and never go outside ever, fine - but it's not much of a life is it.

Dogs can have the most incredible positive impact on somebody or a family, we're not a nation of dog lovers by accident - they're amazing creatures and companions.

If a you were bathing your child and you left the room for a minute came back and the child had drowned. Would you blame the person who left or the bath? They are known to be dangerous

In the UK around 13 children (under 5 years) die from drowning each year, and 1 in 4 of these deaths occur in a bath. For each drowning fatality, there are 8 non-fatal drowning events that are serious enough to require hospitalisation.

So baths are more dangerous than dogs. Amazing.

People with limited intelligence would blame the bath. A sensible person would blame the person who was meant to be looking after the child.

The bath doesn't kill. It's an inanimate object. I hoped you had the sense to realise that.

Of course the bath kills. The same way a live electric wire does. Human interaction with varying degrees of caution can result in death. If you treat these dangers with respect and understanding on how they affect your safety reduces the chance they will harm you or others.

Animals, while not inanimate are not all going to kill us. There are degrees of risk and if we were talking about lions then I'd be on your side as there is a very high chance of one mauling you to death for no reason.

Dogs are relatively safe in the grand schemes of risks we all face each day.

It's interesting that there's nearly as many deaths by dogs as there are deaths by cow in that timespan

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-54268160

It seems most deaths cow are on dog walkers though so perhaps we could add deaths by cow to deaths by dog because deaths by cow seems to be caused by having a dog

Or... it's not the dogs fault but that dog walkers do not respect the dangers walking near cows with a dog has, and dog walkers may be more likely to be walking in fields exercising their little child killers.

Then again, I'm not sure where the cow comes in on the IQ scale, so unsure whether the dog has killed it's owner being a dick near a cow, or the cow has outclassed the dogs defence of it's owner and just ploughed them down in a bloodthirst.

If you got rid of the object there would have been no death. I thought the reason for this thread was to stop deaths. So with that in mind should we get rid of baths to stop deaths?

You've missed the point then. And if you stopped the person being born thered be no death. Or you could apply a bit of sense and realise that a bath doesn't kill someone, an event in a bath such as a medical episode causes the person to die in the bath.
Dogs actively attack.

For sure it's not the dogs fault, it doesn't know any better, the fault lies on the owner, but we have laws in place because people are stupid and need a law telling them they shouldn't do things so like in my original post I believe that Dogs should be banned from farm land and must be kept on a lead at all times whenever it's in public, yes it hurts the responsible owners but most laws we have hurt responsible people it's just the way it is.
