Does this happen at your work?

Nah no arguments at my work. It's simple, anyone asks me for coffee they get a caffeine death mug with 4 large espressos in it. Live through that and I'll happily get them another :p

mmm sound's good to me, do you want a job?

I'm not allowed to drink coffee whilst I work :(
I get plenty of breaks for a coffee though :D

Even if we could drink coffee whilst working, we have machines for that sort of thing anyway. Cheap machine coffee and a Starbucks counter. I usually stick to the tea.

In our department 5 people take it in turns to make the teas etc.

If you want in on the tea round you have to do every round for a day :p

get our own. although there are around 200 people on this floor, and around40 in my team, so either way would be a big drinks round! I have a water cooler conveniently placed right next to my desk, so don't even have to get up for water :D

I work in an office of about 30 people, about 15 of whom have tea/coffee etc

I do drink it and do enjoy it but don't make it myself often as A: I like to try and get on with my work and B: If I want one you have to make it for everyone else. Now I don't mind since I usually have about 3 cups a day since everyone asks me, and i'll help someone make them when I have some free time but I do occasionally get comments about 'So when are you going to make them?' which I suppose as they're making me one is fair but I wouldn't have them often or probably at all if someone didn't make it for me :p

Awkward situation to be in :(

1 coffee when I get up is enough for me now so I just drink water/juice so i'm out the loop. However at my last job my boss pulled me into the office and gave me a b%ll%cking for making the tea for everyone! Apparently "its not an efficient use of my time"! Needless to say I soon left after that!

whenever ive had an office job ive made it very clear when first asked that i do not drink hot drinks so there is no need to get me one.

It seems that if you dont drink them you never get asked to make them :)

I just ask if anybody else wants one when I'm making mine. There's only 4-5 people in the office at any one time usually and one of them doesn't drink hot beverages. Easy really, it's not a massive job and I've never understood why people complain about having to take a turn.

my old workplace we used to just announce that we were going to the coffee machine, if people were really busy they would sometimes ask for something, if they weren't they would come to and chatter (mainly about work) - was a pretty good system to be honest :)

now i just get up and wander to my kitchen if i want a drink - the coffee machines always on and ready to make a decent cup of steaming espresso :)

There's a kettle in the office, along with about 10 people.

Folks just make a cup of tea / coffee when they feel like it. No-one makes them communally as far as I can see.

Anyway, making a cuppa is a nice 2 min break from the computer screen. A chance to have a bit of a think about what you're working on... all good if you ask me.
