Does this sound right - mpg

I have a 07 plate A3 and just curious about my mpg as I feel it drains quick when I drive very cautiously!

I filled up £20 at £1.32 a litre, and I'm already needing to fill up just over 100 miles driven. Maybe I'm being stupid but does that sound average?!

How are we possibly supposed to answer this? You got 30mpg.

If you have a 1.6 TDI and did 50mph on the motorway at 55mph, thats terrible and your car is seriously broken.
If you have a 3.2 V6 and did 20 seperate short trips through town, thats absolutely stunning and your car is clearly magic.

Well at £1.32/litre its probably a petrol, but could still be almost any engine in the range

Yeah sorry 1.6 engine. I tend to average about 60-70mph to work and do about 130 miles a week.

1.6 or 1.6FSI?

The original 1.6 is rubbish on fuel:

The 1.6FSI is better, I'd have though yours was the FSI being an 07 car, not sure when the old engine was killed off.

My car doesn't show my mpg it doesn't show a lot to be honest!

All I know is its special edition!

Still depends entirely on what kind of driving you do.

Exactly, it's not like it ends up costing you any less!

Fill the tank, do some driving and fill again. The amount you put in the second time is the amount you use.... Then work out mpg

80% of my commute to work is on the motorway with some town driving.

Well the combined figure for your car is 39mpg, you're getting 30. Book figures are always optimistic so sounds about right.

At 30mpg for 7k miles a year, you don't stand to save a worthwhile amount
