After you get enough to get to MM I don't really care. It's nice when you can change avatar but I read much more than I post.

Most people with mega high post counts are the ones with Grammar Nazi obsessive compulsive disorder that don't actually post anything other than a public display of their disorder.

I only see it as an indicator of how long I've been a member of the community, and how much input I've given.

I'd much prefer there to be some way of having an algorithm determine if your a spammer or a helpful poster, and display a status rather than a count.

Rather impossible though mind.

Its quality of posts that matter, not quantity. As you can see, I've been a member 6 years and not broke 1000 posts. I only post where needed, and if i feel I have a valid point, or can add something constructive to the thread. However I'm on here most days having a good ol' read at some of the stuff

The size of the number means nothing to me however I do like it to be accurate. After all, the purpose of a post count is to count how many posts you have made. Once mods start mucking about with postcounts, removing posts, resetting, post auctions/donations etc then the whole thing becomes utterly meaningless and you may as well not bother showing it any more.

It mattered to me, only when i wasn't a "Gangster" because i didn't have an avatar, but now, nope, like others i read a lot more than i post.

I tend not to pay much attention to people's post counts. Though, on the occasions when I do I normally take a quick glance at their join date; it helps to gauge whether they're likely to be a spammer or not.

It annoys me when people assume authority comes with a high post count, or favour the opinions of those who've posted more on the forum that others.
