I've been a pc gamer sinch what seems to be the dawn of time, but now I'm thinking of dumping it and sticking with my 360. Anyone done it, only to regret it and come back to the joy of upgrading every 6 months and spending loads?

hi,
ive done the same...the 360 has deffo beaten the pc gaming monster in me to a pulp!
thinking i would never get used to the 360's joypad etc, i now only use my pc for t' internet, emails etc....ive not regretted it yet :)

hehe yeah thats what i used to think aswell....
i think i lean more towards the 360 because of the "social" aspect. the kiddies love watching and playing it and the missus doesnt mind the odd blastathon either. hopefully there will be some quality games out later this year that will draw me back to the pc fold... quakewars has me chomping at the bit.....

Tried it with a PS1, went back to PC.
Tried it with a Dreamcast, went back to PC.
Tried it with a PSP, and still went back to PC. (Although I still use the PSP occasionally)

I've never tried buying an XBOX, but I expect the result would be the same, albeit at a waste of £200 rather than half that or less.

I really believe that consoles are for those who aren't that serious about their games.

I understand where you're coming from but you can't call people who dedicate 100's of hours to games such as the Final Fantasy series, Gran Turismo series, Mario Kart, Grand Theft Auto series, Halo etc. as not being serious about their games.

I did it 6 or 7 months ago and havent regretted it, the only thing i missed was WOW, one look through the latest edition of PC Zone shows that theres been almost nothing worth playing on the pc in that time.

That said i just bought a new gaming laptop yesterday, but ill still game mainly on the 360 - id say with gamerscores and internet connectivity, the hardcore gamers are 360 players these days.

hehe, no really, that made me laugh, hardcore gamers !! ahh hahaha no stop, !!
another pointless thread turning into a PC v console 'nothing new to add' done before zzz'fest

this thread could have been quite interesting in garnering peoples opinions until the "serious gamers only do this etc etc, blah blah drivel" started!!
so, if we can keep it on track that would be great...........

i live in hope.

You think that's unthinkable? :) I been a gamer for ages too an am thinking of selling my laptop and desktop and getting a MacbookPro.

I'd still be able to play my favourites though, just on the Mac's x1600 rather than a x1900xt. That's LFS (via Bootcamp), UT2004 and Q3. My motivation is to just stop playing games and do more Photoshop; rather than just change platform.

wow. i'm amazed by the replies in this thread. i don't own a console and probably never will but to dismiss console users as kids or "not real gamers" is just plain ignorant....

If you look at all the major gaming tournaments, they are turning to consoles for this, like it or not, the gamerscore system has won a lot of fans, as we have a worldwide scoring system.

PC gaming is not dead, but its definetly a niche market now, if anyone wants to play the best games, they have to have a console as well as a pc now.

Why not just Upgrade your PC less and dabble in both PC and Console.

I've had my AMD 3200+ Winchester ,OCZ 1GB Ram, WD Raptor 74GB Hard Drive for well over 2 years I beleive, The last things I upgraded was my graphics card to a XFX 7800 Extreme 490 clock version with a DFI PCI Express motherboard which is like 4 months off being 2 years old.

I can still play all the new games pretty well but the CPU is definately starting to show its age and im desperately looking to go dual or quad core as soon as the newer version come out with new ram and motherboard.

I have a 360 and i've not really played it much lately but its great to have to switch on when you want something different its also going to be pretty sweet now that vista is here as both will become more interactive with each other (not got vista nor do i want to buy it just yet).

I think PC gaming is always going to be the best unless consoles start acting a lot more like PC(which they sort of starting to) , such as giving people the ability to create there on content for games & then share for free (mods) also allowing the good old keyboard and mouse as and option, but then this would me the console would'nt really be a console anymore hehe.

I would say stick with what you've got and just put some money away slowly until you've got enough for if you want to upgrade but if not then you could always spend it on something eles :p

and im sure you are aware of all the exploits and cheats that have allowed many users to boost their coverted 'gamescore',
i couldnt care less about a worthless ego ranking system, nor about major gaming tournaments a game is just that, a game
im not going to try and argue the toss over which format is better, i prefer PC's over consoles end of
weve heard the same bull about PC's are dead and the best software is on consoles over and over , its dull and pointless

I like how the people stating that consoles are for younger people are acting incredibly childish and immature. Most ironic :)

I feel like I'm able to come out the closet here and confess my feelings towards possibly going console... :D For as long as I've been able to use a PC (circa 1993) I've vehemently dismissed consoles as kiddies toys, but now I'm not so sure... This is because I am currently contemplating an expensive upgrade, but the question I keep asking myself as I grimly consider the damage to my credit card is, why?

And this is the problem for me, what is there worth playing on PC these days? Aside from the woefully generic RTS's, cynical MMORPG's and pretty, but no personality FPS's, what else is there? The only games I play regulary are more than a year old and virtually everything I purchased in 2006 has been eBayed simply because they no longer have that certain something I expect from a PC game.

It may be the case that Console Land is no better, but at least it'll be fresh and interesting to explore, something which sadly the PC scene is anything but.

I can't afford to pay for the upgrades, it wasn't such a big deal back when there were plenty of top class games coming out every couple of months, but now it's a few decent games a year, and the cost of keeping a pretty decent gaming rig has somewhat increased.

I'm going to sit out PC gaming for the time being as I can't see myself sehlling out on a grands worth of equipment to play games that may not be out for another year or so.

I will however be sticking around long enough for STALKER, although if that disappoints, I just can't see the point, I'd rather just not game anymore, it doesn't feel the same for me anymore.
