Donnington, Trackday - 26th Feb

Rain or shine - it'll still be fun, and that's from me with a car that's mechanically allergic to wet roads.

My car must off caught that off yours :p

The wet is just as fun with a lot less strain on the car. Tyres don't overheat, brakes don't fade and engines don't overheat.

Oh and I will be there :D :D :D

Errm, b3any = permabanned.

Guessing he has left the OcUK Store :)

Sorry guys i wont be making an appearance. Money is tight at the moment and i have a years worth of the finest road tax at the end of this month

Sam xxxx ;)

Si - are you putting new tyres on? My fronts are a bit low, rears are fine. Fronts probably wont last the day so not sure whether to buy two new ones and use the rears on the front or just put the worn fronts on the rear and rears on the front.

Tis all very confusing. Don't really want two brand new tyres on the rear because they take 500 miles to start to grip.

Also noticed 3 tyres are Z rated and 1 is W rated. Stupid Kwik Fit.

I was thinking this earlier, not really sure. I think I have some tyres off my mate in the garage, about 2mm of tread. Ideal for track so might kill them then get some new ones. The ones on the front now will not last a day.

But, if it's raining........... Ermm don't know lol.

I've got tax to get end of this month too, not an excuse for me ;). I'm fitting the engine this weekend too, hopefully my aching leg will go tomorrow. Aches from where they put a wire in and ran into into my heart  Kind of odd watching an Xray screen showing a wire being driven thru your body :p

£99 is very cheap for a trackday, just stick it on the credit card :D Should be a good little Ocuk meet too.

.

But ive just had a MOT and this saturday shes going in to have a pulley replaced which could be expensive due to ford rounding the bolt when putting it on.

Not long now :D

Found a vid, couple of DC5's on their first Donington outing :-

http://www.thetinterweb.com/videos/donington gp circuit 05-10-05.wmv

Cool vid

One thing to note though is that is the GP circuit, we will be driving the National circuit. Exactly the same apart from the straight with the Dunlop bridge, where they turn left after the bridge. On our day we wont turn left there, we carry on along that straight to a right-left chicane at the end of that straight, and then onto the the start/finish.

I know - I reckon the National is better - we get to come out of that chicane pointing backwards :D

LOL, tell me about it :D

Going by that vid the version of the track I've been playing on rFactor is pretty damn accurate. And I have ploughed on/spun at that chicane countless times :o

Sort it out :p real deal next week.

Damn, looks like I'm out guys :( :(

I popped down the road to Castle Combe today and got them do a noise test. It was 100.1 dba@4500 rpm.

My car is much quieter when reving from a standstill too, so I really don't think it'll pass the 98dba drive-by limit at Donington, even with a bung.

Arse :(

My Rover got 103db at combe on the old exhaust, dropped to 97 with a bung.

Mongoose, currently on is 98db. On the track under boost it's damn loud. Jonnys Teg was funny as the marshalls kept shaking there heads when he went past, VERY loud. Just made the noise test with 100db, but of course thats not on VTEC :D

Mine is going to fail with no bung so I plan to throttle off around the first corner and see how long I can get away with it.

If I get busted I'll shove the bung on, and pray.

:)

Just booked mine, only got places in the experienced group! Novice and intermediate are full.

Hopefully I'll be able to wangle my way into the lower groups! I have done a few track days before and donnington twice before so I guess I won't be too far out of my depth, (I hope).
