DON'T BUY MSI THEY MIS-SOLD TOP SPEC GT SERIES LAPTOPS with MXM Graphics

Oh. My. God. Words cannot describe how petty that is, to the point where I almost actually physically facepalmed. I doubt that any court in the country would take such a charge seriously and would instead reprimand MSI for wasting their time.

I can now say with certainty that MSI will not, now or in the future, ever have my money. What a reprehensible company.

I missed out it was also sent to Gibbo and James (forum mod)....

I wonder what the sender was trying to achieve including them in the email?

This is some classic drama right here. I think it's really bad that they're quoting for repairs on 'trade ins' that just isn't gravy at all.

I've just stumbled across this thread and spent the last hour or so reading through it, don't think I'll be buying any MSI products in the near future. If I was in the situation, I'm sad to say I'd probably have to cave in and force an upgrade (due to not having a replacement like MiSJAH), but I commend that he's persevering for the little man, not enough people do, and I think big companies know this.

It's often a long and drawn out process, which a large multi-national company is better experienced and better equipped to deal with. Go on you for sticking with it, I hope MSI somehow right their wrongs and you guys get a proper resolve.

I recently dealt with Sennheiser for an issue, I had a problem with RS180 wireless headphones, the clips were not of sufficient quality that connect the cups, sent it in for an RMA (near end of warranty), do you know what I got back? A pair of brand new RS 185's, headphones which are newer, better, cost more, with a new warranty. All this with an extremely fast turnaround.

Now I'm sure they don't/can't do this for everything, but that's what I call some customer service!

I would be incredibly surprised if there did not exist separate OCUK / MSI communication and background discussions surrounding this thread, as clearly for MSI it is a very embarrassing topic, reputationally damaging, that they do not want to persist in the public eye.

Msi are not that bad, though not happy with the amount of time they are taking.
If anything they have been polite and fair to me, besides the repair bill which is annoying.
All I want is my 1080, I'm sure it's going to be an awesome computer when I get it.

Hi,

what laptop did you have and what are you replacing it with? Thanks.

I have a GT72 2QE 806 UK. Thanks

Dean

I'll update on Monday, when I can use my works computer and msi have got back to me.
I hope they drop the repair bill, or at least come to a compromise

Not only a great example of customer service but a demonstration of the integrity of the company involved. A company that understands that repeat business comes from ensuring a quality relationship with your existing customers

I concur.

Same here, happy the thread is still open. I'm concerned that MSI is leaning on OcUK.

Email from MSI representative to me said:
I would really really consider what you post in public if you are suggesting we are leaning on Overclockers to close your thread. You are suggesting we are coercing or forcing Overclockers to close the thread. At no time whatsoever have we suggested directly or indirectly to close the thread. Nor have we spoken to an OcUK forum mod or employee asking for the thread to be closed or removed.

Your suggestion is defamatory to the good name of MSI. If this line continues without any foundation whatosever then this will be left to our legal team to take further under the Defamation Act 2013. Suggesting we are leaning on Overclockers is damaging to our brand and reputation and we will seek immediate redress.

My suggestion still stands (see post #499).

I have contacted the MSI representative in question and asked for contact details for MSI's legal department.

Unlike MSI, I am willing to be held accountable for statements I make.

See the main problem with this forum, is its also a forum for a store that sells laptops.
So it could be seen more commercial or has a bigger commercial investment in what people say. I`m on no ones side over your statement, I guess MSI just want to protect its IP.

So I guess MSI are going for Libel, just protecting its self.

But I`m not a lawyer so I don't know what you can or cant say, may be its in the wording. I think vs MSI are. Is a big difference.

The forum allows freedom of speech. The moderators will only get involved if the rules are broken.

So let's keep within the rules.

Let's wait and see what MSI's legal team say. I look forwards to their communication.

Exactly.

Theyre not going to sue you.

If they were, they would have had to provide you a formal cease and desist letter or a formal summons - from a lawyer.

All you have there is a snotty non-MSI sanctioned email from an MSI employee who youve no doubt infuriated to breaking point with this pointless crusade you're on.

That said, you could probably forward it to MSI via their complaints process and get the individual fired for it.

Personally, i think you have your part in all of this - probably due to too much time on your hands and a penchant for drama. Youve been soapboxing the hell out of this and you walked away from the option when you moved to aorus. Are you still even looking for an upgrade?

Seems just about everyone else is seeing resolutions to their issues from the support staff on here - albeit a little protracted.

Mind you, if MSI did to sue you, they wouldnt need to win, they'd just bankrupt you through legal fees and make your life difficult for years.

Wow personal attack much why do you care so much?

I've not read the thread or issue in detail - but having been involved in this kind of thing before from the other perspective people have to understand that from a business perspective there is only so far you can let some aspects of (potential) libel/defamation lie before you are almost forced to take legal action or otherwise will have a difficult time defending other future cases (which might be more significant).

I've not read this in detail so might be missing something but it appears as though 1-2 people have made unsubstantiated claims about MSI's conduct behind the scenes that without evidence can very much put you in a complex situation legally.

I am expecting this based on:

I'm positive that this is not pointless, in facts several people I am in contact with have seen improved offers from MSI after taking advice from this thread.

That said, you could probably forward it to MSI via their complaints process and get the individual fired for it.

I hadn't thought of this. But surely the individual would be getting themselves fired for making unsanctioned legal threats?

Personally, i think you have your part in all of this - probably due to too much time on your hands and a penchant for drama. Youve been soapboxing the hell out of this and you walked away from the option when you moved to aorus.

OK, this intrigues me. Why would you say purchasing another notebook means I have walked away from due recourse?

Are you still even looking for an upgrade?

I started this thread what do you think? Of course I am.

Seems just about everyone else is seeing resolutions to their issues from the support staff on here - albeit a little protracted.

People are accepting what they believe is a poor offer as they cannot see a better offer and do not have the inclination to take on a multinational.

Yup, I look forwards to the press attention that would garner for the MXM fiasco. MSI would then have to discuss publicly how they have treated their existing customers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wonder if anyone know what MSI's legal obligations were in regards to informing customers with models affected and eligible to trade-in via the program?

different though if it's an opinion or speculation though? no one has flat our said "MSI are 100% definitely doing xyz?"

even MSI email states;

Suggesting we are leaning on Overclockers is damaging to our brand and reputation and we will seek immediate redress.

key word "suggesting" surely, that isn't making a claim just an idea and opinion which we are all entitled too.

either way looks bad and I doubt MSI will seriously consider suing one of its own customers who is clearly annoyed at the lack of customer service and resolution to what should be a pretty big deal.....
