DON'T BUY MSI THEY MIS-SOLD TOP SPEC GT SERIES LAPTOPS with MXM Graphics

Same here, happy the thread is still open. I'm concerned that MSI is leaning on OcUK.

As for posting my personal details, I have a screenshot and as I am subscribed to the this thread I have the entire post in an email also, it was stated that "The stance is a public announcement with MSI for all to see."

I'm shocked that MSI think this is an acceptable manner to resolve a problem of their own creation.

Yup, I also think MSI are trying to stifle the thread. It was very bad form.

Misjah I know what you are saying but the way I see it is msi have turned around and said OK we aren't doing a gpu upgrade but if you would like to you can trade yours in for a discount on a new one.

Except that is not what MSI said. To quote MSI directly:

MSI UK Notebook Facebook Post said:
This upgrade will allow users to enjoy the latest MSI features, such as Cooler Boost and Dragon Center, and is available at costs comparable to previous MXM upgrades.

Which previous MXM upgrade do you think your cost is comparable to to be a good deal, considering Neo's cost (and I think his is SLI) is only £290?

I am puzzled as to why we as a community are not coming together to hold MSI to their word to fix their problem that was of their making!

Neo is getting a single card mate. And I know your trying your hardest to defend us but this for me is a easy option for me to get a new laptop and be done with it. Because waiting for anything else to happen is just a long drawn out process and I haven't got the time or the energy to allocate it to this it's a laptop I get a new one case closed I move on with my life. It does help that MSI do make absolutely brilliant laptops.

No worries, I just demonstrating that it is a bad deal (based on MSI's own statements) for most involved.

I know have your reasons dude and I guess your point about it being our only option is correct you have an aorus I don't so your more in the position to argue it out.

Agreed, it's easier to take the time to hold MSI to account when you have a (super awesome) aorus to use in the mean time.

And I also agree that MSI make great laptops, it's their treatment of their customers surrounding their screw up that has caused this thread and those stating they will not/never buy MSI.

No offence guys but some of you reaply need to learn to challenge when you are in the right...

Regardless if you bought the laptop to upgrade...

The advertising said you can upgrade now you cant

This is false advertising and breaking the law!

There are advertisig laws for a reason so we dont get ripped off all the time by shady traders.

I may have agreed a deal to close it but im certai ly not happy about it or touching another msi product and it 100 percent wasnt what was advertised!!

and MSIJAH (lel) - i agree MSI do make good stuff at ok prices also, but shame about the customer service and agility resolving this issue. Often the case when you use a shared service centre in another country, you lose that control. I guess we got what we paid for though? shared service centres do equal cheaper prices (or higher profits ;))

I Well I bought my laptop for upgrade, even have proof on the official.msi forums, where I was asking about upgrades, within a month of getting my laptop.

I can't remember the exact model but it was a GT72 something with Gsync and a desktop gtx980 980 8gb card with 512 gb ssd 1tb had and 32 gb memory.

I'm just switching to a 1080 256gb ssd and 16gb memory, not bothered about losing 16gb as 32gb is overkill.

I'm just waiting on my invoice, with the repairs it better not be too much. Even if it's 390 it's still a good.deal as I.sold an old 980m 4gb mxm card for 360

Can everyone post their laptop they had and the one they're getting and how much your paying. Just to see what deals everyone's getting.

So I have received a legal threat from a representative of MSI:

I would really really consider what you post in public if you are suggesting we are leaning on Overclockers to close your thread. You are suggesting we are coercing or forcing Overclockers to close the thread. At no time whatsoever have we suggested directly or indirectly to close the thread. Nor have we spoken to an OcUK forum mod or employee asking for the thread to be closed or removed.

Your suggestion is defamatory to the good name of MSI. If this line continues without any foundation whatosever then this will be left to our legal team to take further under the Defamation Act 2013. Suggesting we are leaning on Overclockers is damaging to our brand and reputation and we will seek immediate redress.

I stand by concern, and my statement. I accept it may be incorrect, however, it is a concern of mine.

Msi are not that bad, though not happy with the amount of time they are taking.
If anything they have been polite and fair to me, besides the repair bill which is annoying.
All I want is my 1080, I'm sure it's going to be an awesome computer when I get it.

no doubt it will be awesome man, but they haven't been fair (well i think your the only one that got a decent price?)

but repair bill again shouldn't enter it, we only doing a trade in as it's only option but it shouldn't be subject to repairs

they should give you new laptop with the 1080 as promised then take your laptop

if i had more money to go to court this would be different, full refund imo as false advertising.

In your particular situation, I agree completely. It works out well for you.

What it doesn't do is follow MSI's public statement about cost.

"available at costs comparable to previous MXM upgrades"

Whereas the majorities costs exceed previous MXM upgrade costs, yours is lower (by some margin) of previous MXM upgrade costs.

It is another example of MSI not fulling their own promoted program.

Neo, I'm happy for you. It's great to see one person involved in the trade-in is getting an exemplary deal.

Edit:Except for them charging you extra for damage to the chassis, maybe an MSI representative could point out how exactly that is "comparable to previous MXM upgrades"?

I R NOT A FORUM TROLL.

I firmly stand by my opinion, I am happy to enter into discussion to correct it if it is indeed inaccurate.

Of course not, why would I? Did you?

Rather than threaten legal action they could just be sorting our payments and delivery of laptops. How is it that they can reply like that but sales are simply non existent the only proof I have that my laptop hasn't been stolen is the fact msi are a reputable company and tropicola has paid. Right now I have no laptop and no indication of ever having a laptop again lol. Soooo if you are listening msi I'm sure many of us would like an email this week because 3 weeks waiting to simply pay is just not on.

Oh. My. God. Words cannot describe how petty that is, to the point where I almost actually physically facepalmed. I doubt that any court in the country would take such a charge seriously and would instead reprimand MSI for wasting their time.

I can now say with certainty that MSI will not, now or in the future, ever have my money. What a reprehensible company.
