Don’t ever go round this ladies house for dinner!

This lady managed to take out three of her relatives with a cooking mistake. Made the excellent choice of using death cap mushrooms in a beef wellington. I very much doubt she’d last very long on Masterchef. Nearly ended up doing herself in with her dinner too!

"In her statement she also admitted lying to authorities about a food dehydrator seized by police from a local tip during investigations last week.

She said she had been questioned by her estranged husband as to whether she had poisoned his parents, and so panicked and disposed of the dehydrator as she was worried she might lose custody of their children."

I'm not sure saying she disposed of the dehydrator because it looked suspicious is the quite the defence she was looking for.

Just LOL if you are Press in NZ or AUS and want to scream she did it but you don't because you'll end up in jail which is ironic but also funny.

e: noobs.

e2: but also not proven so the joke yet might be on us.

Also the bit about the estranged husband cancelling at the last minute got me. Did he suspect something, is he in on it, or did he genuinely cancel just as she was taking the wellington out and she couldn’t go back.

Oh, and the kids conveniently didnt like fungi, so she scraped their mushrooms off.

This really belongs in the things that make you go hmm thread

Regarding the mushroom lady, her ex husband fell seriously ill the previous year after eating at hers.

And apparently she’s been worried for a long time about losing custody of her kids.

This is dodgy AF if you ask me

Nuts. It's like that rugby lad that ended up paralyzed by eating a slug through a dare. Ended up dying a year or two later.
As with 413x I didn't realise he had died. Poor Lad.

Something I may have missed in the article but how is she okay? 3 People are dead and one needs a liver transplant, yet somehow she seems to be fine. Was she not eating the same meal? Is she practising the carnivore diet or something so couldn't eat the mushrooms?

Also she seems to be trying to pawn this off on the Asian market she is trying to claim she bought it from however.
1. Usually these Asian stores import their food from Asian countires. Death cap mushrooms are not native to Asia.
2. Even if they were Native to Asia, why would Asians eat food that kills them.
3. If there was some sort of contamination this should have been a huge news story. Food being contaminated with something that is incredibly poisonous would blow up. There would be a lot of dead people who bought mushrooms from the same store. No link has been made so far.
4. Do dried mushrooms even last for several months?

Edit: Just seen Hades post. Yeah I'm pretty confident this is intentional

I would never trust a home picked mushroom dinner.
Did they even know it was hand picked?

Death caps look too similar to edible mushrooms to the average noob

Read the article. If she bought the mushrooms.. That sounds super suss.
Surely there. Would have been loads do cases of people getting ill.
She sounds guilty imo

She claims the mushrooms were a mix of supermarket mushrooms and dried mushrooms from an asian grocery store.

You'd think that if an asian store was selling deadly mushrooms that incidents involving ingestion of said mushrooms wouldn't be localised entirely at this one lady's house...
