Hi,
Im trying to remember how to get my own website on my PC ON THE NET , i now it is wrong really, but i like to do it that way. Could some tell me what i have to do.
Ive got wampserver and ronuk.org (MY WEB SITE) installed in it (J:/ronuk.org but ive got file:///) preceding it, that means i think its only present in my own browser ??? how do i get it to go on the net? Ive got PC DESKTOP,ROUTER & MODEM, WIN 7, KASPERSKY FIREWAL.
192.168.0.2 ROUTER
81.96.67.248 MODEM
file:///J:/wamp64/www/ronuk.org/index.html works with just the number.(192.168.0.2 ROUTER) but i don't think it is on the net.

81.96.67.248 (modem)give "unable to connect" page

on KASPERSKY firewall, there is no mention of ronuk.org

Has any one got any ideas please, thank you.

Do you have a static IP, you will need to forward your IP in ronuk.org.

So everytime someone request ronuk.org it is pointed to your home server.

Also possible your router doesn't support local loopback on the WAN IP, but only on the LAN IP, some don't.

Login into your ronuk.org account and see what settings are in the control panel. There should be a setting to forward your IP. Also need to find out if you have static or dynamic IP, if dynamic your will need to setup a dynamic DNS using something like noip.com. Been years since I did this.

The ronuk.org is on my pc, and i logged in to my superhub 2, went to advanced setting,, scroll down till i found PORT FORWARD,

service http(tcp:80)
add rule
start 80 end port 80
protocol tcp
IP ADDRESS 192.168.0.9
Ive done all that? REM. ItS all on my PC but there something stopping me getting on the net?

Go to https://www.ipchicken.com/ and check what your external address is.
If it's showing the 81.96.67.248 address that you mentioned in your OP, that should be correct. You already have the domain set up to point to this address.

Check that you've allowed incoming traffic on port 80 in the kaspersky firewall.

If that is all correct, it's likely to be config settings of Apache and i'm out of ideas there - I dont have any experience of Apache.

edit: you have the dns setting different between:
http://ronuk.org
and
http://www.ronuk.org
This wont cause any problems in itself, as long as you're using the www.ronuk.org address to test your site.

You still have to sign up and register your domain with some company so that public DNS servers know where to point, or use a free service like noip.com which will register your DNS for you. Just because you have set up a web server and created a web page, how do you expect anyone to find it. There are public DNS server all around the country but they need to know where to point to(IP address) so you still need to buy your domain somewhere and update it with your WAN(external) IP. This is assuming you have a static IP.

Go to noip.com, sign up and download the client, set it up etc. I think it's still free.

so you still need to buy your domain somewhere and update it with your WAN(external) IP. This is assuming you have a static IP.

It looks to me like the domain has been bought and set up correctly.
It should still work without a static ip (until he reboots the modem) so the problem is within his setup.

oh photos not available, oh well.
ronuk.org $34.95 renew
ronuk.org private reg. renew $9.95
ive paid for both of these, SO i have got a domain & priv. reg. haven't i?
so their done. except the does seen to have the www in front of them.
The KAS. has allowed 80 through and back and rebooted.
but it still goes to this file:///J:/wamp64/www/www.ronuk.org/index.html

What happens if you go to http://127.0.0.1 ?

You have a folder called www in the apache directory, here you should put the main page to your website as index.html, you don't need to add file://, that's for serving files not web pages. try that.

Who did you buy the domain from, like godaddy etc, you need to redirect your own IP, like 83.xxx.xxx.xxx into there so that when that page is served it redirects to your home server.

All you have to do is ensure you can access it locally on http://127.0.0.1, disable all firewalls or make sure you allow port 80 inbound then get someone to test by http://external.ip.address if they get a webpage you good to go.

If not don't even think about DNS settings at this stage. Once the person can access the page via IP then sort the DNS out by making an A record where it's hosted or as already said use no-ip or something.

PS: I can't access http://81.96.67.248 ! Just turn off all your internal firewalls. That's what your router is for! Just software hogging more resources for nothing.

Nothing on WHOIS.

Yes there is: https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=ronuk.org

You can also test it by opening command promt and pinging www.ronuk.org to see if it resolves.

As mrbell said, all the dns talk will just be confusing things because there's some other problem on his local setup somewhere.

but it still goes to this file:///J:/wamp64/www/www.ronuk.org/index.html

if it opens the file rather than loads it over http:// then there's something up with your web server settings.
Check that the apache service is actually running.
Do you have any other files in the directory? -Try removing everything and start with a basic "hello world" file first.

http://127.0.0.1 goes to a "unable to connect" page.
Ive turned of KAS. firewall and rebooted, still nothing.
So file:/// just tells you the web page can't get out, is that right? so if i disable KAS, MALWAREBYTES completley, will that be enough, there all so win 7 firewall but it says i can't do that?
Ive been to http://external.ip.address ive tried in the router, 192.168.0.9(ive changed to 9 not 4 - tcp/udp )and 81.96.67.248 the 81. xxx goes to a page with 7 sites on it. http://external.ip.address 81.96.67.248 and http://external.ip.81.96.67.248 and http://external.ip 81.96.67.248 3 ver. the first one i got 7 sites the second two , unable to connect.
I am sorry about this, there was a time when you just put it into google and that was that (damn hackers lol)

81.96.67.248 the 81. xxx goes to a page with 7 sites on it.

Can you show us a screenshot of what you get here?

Click start button, type services.msc
In the list, look for "Apache" - the status should be running and the startup type should be automatic.
Also check for "World Wide Web Publishing Service" - this should be stopped if it exists.

It sounds like apache isn't started. Go to where you installed wamp, like c:\wamp, then navigate to c:\wamp\bin\apache\apache2.4.23\bin and open httpd.exe. Then navigate to http://127.0.0.1, you should see the apache startup page, which is index.php in the root apache dir, i.e www.
