Doom 3 - BFG edition

well not bfg but ive reinstalled this today with numerous mods :D

once you have got the tweaks right it is still very good graphically.

once ive finished sorting my video of first level ill upload does look very nice but it will be big :( :D

I could quite happily forgive the lack of levels in the psx version of Doom thanks to the soundtrack, i remember playing it late at night, wearing headphones, & all of a sudden hearing babies crying, it sent such a chill down my spine.

Track 18!, thats the one!.

Man, that really does bring back memories... of Christmas! For me at least, haha. Playing Doom on my Playstation at Christmas was immense :)

Much preferred the soundtrack on the Playstation version. It was different to the trent reznor original PC one right?

Different strokes...

Doom will always be about that amazing midi soundtrack on the pc version for me, the ps1 soundtrack was good but I wasn't enamoured by it like those amazing midi guitar riffs

From the PSX version it had to be this that got me all excited...

And on my PC i have always had Doom Remake (Doomsday Kickstart) on it with every release of doom to go with it. From all PC versions, PSX and the N64 one. I also have all Hertic and Hexen's run through the same engine. Love it on them late friday nights after a few beers and in need of an "Old school" fix :D

Have to admit out of all the different platforms. For the shear creepy factor. The PSX backing tracks were the best by far. The PC music though is great. Even better in the Doom Remake version were it as been re-mastered.

Back on topic. Seems a bit steep though what they are asking for this IMO. I have all the Dooms anyway.

Valliant effort, maybe try some of these mods out?

D3 was an amazing looking game, but I think it took the darkness and shadows too far, there was no let-up and it just became a chore to play for me.

Doom and Doom 2 will always have a special place in my heart.

ive got wulfen on textures added some of the sikkmod :p removed hud and loads of other things a lot of combined bits from the best doom 3 mods ;)

for those struggling with the darkness you just alter this in console

r_lightScale 4

i find 3 or four best . think default is 1

basically the bfg edition is just what ive been doing but without the hassle of the mods and tweaks with new content

i did a screenshot in the high res other day once you actually getting it working right it matches anything out now and its how many years old .

I'm more interested in Doom and Doom 2 that ship with this, but all the info I can find is on Doom 3.

Does anyone know if D1 and D2 will support 16:9, and will it include any expansions, like TNT and Plutonia?

it does say res fix for all games somewhere

you can do this already

some people have modded menus aswell already

the one i use on doom 3 have all the modern res for widescreen and is awesome you dont have to do it manually .

As silly as it was, I think it was a stroke of genius, made the game so much more tense. Yet we had droves of people crying about it, as if there life depended on it.

From a practicality point of view it was a daft move on id's part, yeah it made the game more tense (at least untill you figured out what was causing enemies to spawn in) but it really made no sense as to why they wouldn't have light modules on the weapons or be able to attach a torch to the weapons. This is the future so gaffer tape doesn't exist? Just a daft game mechanic at best.

the torch is mounted to the guns, but turns off as it did before, so it's too easy now..

but before you had to make sure you had the right gun in your hand before turning on the torch, if not it was hard to recycle the correct weapon if suddenly attacked....FEAR was the same too !

i'll probably get this because i havent played `resurrection of evil` plus the missing DLC

There's also a brand new remastered Painkiller Overdose HD due out soon, but i think Doom will be a better bet
