Doom 3 - BFG edition

please tell me I've been informed wrongly, but is this just a rehash aimed at consoles ? no PC specific gfx options ? arrow keys to navigate menus ? I'm hovering over the buy option but as I already own the dvd and steam version of the original dunno whether this will be worth it.

it runs better than it used to levels load very quick , graphics are better than standard just tweaking mine (you can enable console as tweak )

better interface .

just trying to get mods working :cool:

thats why i got it with older versions of doom and with certain mods i got great looking game but.. certain errors or glitches. this seems to be running a lot better now and no issues upto yet

i guess if you like doom it may be worth it if you dont then i guess not.

will upload videos later .
 
It has "no graphics update". it comes with the same IQ as the original doom 3 on PC, it has no graphics details setting in game (only resolution and AA setting).

I think this is just a direct port from console version. Wouldn't waste cash on this.

Why would it be a "port" (a word you seem to cherish), surely its just doom3 with the expansion levels added, some new levels and other bits and pieces?

also seems a bit harder and ive played a lot of doom

lol improved lighting and rendering on the ancient consoles, 3D and 5.1 audio?.....whoopee do

This shows how bad the gaming industry is nowadays. ID re-releasing a sub-par game 8 years later with updated graphics on consolols and then fire it on PC. Where's Doom 4 *****?

When Doom 4 does come out, it'll be consolized garbage on par with RAGE. Probably not even worth pirating.

Wow, you sound really angry.... Erm, maybe you should stop playing video games for a while, go out, enjoy life and maybe get laid to try and calm you down a little? Just an idea, that’s all..

As for the game, chill, its maybe a rehash but console owners are seeing a huge number of older games being rehashed and labelled as “HD’ with uber duper trophy support lol

Many will buy Doom 3 BFG, enjoy it and that’s fine.. No need to get angry over it.
 
take v sync off change fps to 120 fps

if you getting tearing maybe stick to 60 fps with v sync on

i just recorded 1 hr solid through game smooth as butter on 120 fps

How can anyone like Quake 4!?!? Quake 4 is Id Software's WORST game imo. If someone never played the first 3 quake games and thought Quake 4 is excellent on those grounds, then I suppose that would warrant a semi decent excuse. Other than that, I really don't know how anyone could say Quake 4 is a decent FPS if you have played other FPS games, especially the earlier Quake games.

Doom 3 on the other hand is OK - it was always more a visual demo thing for me than anything when it first came out.

You could get away with d3doverrider to stop the screen tearing if v-sync is making it a bit laggy to move.

Quake 4 to be fair was made by Raven, that being said going by iDs track record over the last 8 or so years i doubt it would have been much better if iD had made it themselves. They really seem to have lost any magic they once had while making games, they take forever over putting a game out then once it does come out its usually average at best. They had the reputation for eyars of being an "engine company", even that is on the decline, don't see too many devs lining up to license any of their latest engines compared to what the likes of quake 3 had.
