Doom 3 - BFG edition

play was doing this for 13 quid so were few other places i guess its if you want retail disc or download

there was a discount code for greenmangaming aswell

some are doing it with rage
 
apparently this one's moddability is still uncertain, bit of a shame if that is the case but its a high priority for id to solve, something to do with legalities as the bfg version contains stuff from id tech 5. (whatever that means!)
 
im sure you will be able to mod it or the mods adjusted to work with this version . a lot of it is similar so i dont think it will be that hard to alter.

these god damn spiders :p hate em .
 
Okay er, don't buy this, seriously.

- It's got big issues and didn't seem to go through any QC with ATI cards at all. I just had a fight to get it working, trying different driver sets and in the end it turned out to want me to update some DirectX file. But it didn't bother to tell me that, I had to figure that out for myself.

- The graphics are exactly the same.

- There is NO customisation beyond resolution for graphics options at all. Think along the lines of RAGE.

- The copies of Doom I and II are using some awful 320x200 low resolution source port. There is no point to this when things like GZDoom/Doomsday/ChocolateDoom exist. If you're not going to do it right, don't do it at all.

If you're thinking of getting this, just buy the Doom complete pack instead. It's got all the same stuff but it just works, you have a proper options menu and Doom I/II/Final have their full WAD files so can be used with a proper source port.

For the first time, i'm really scared for Doom 4. If ID don't really buck up their ideas I can see Doom joining C&C on the deathpile. :(
 
Ive got an ATI card and its running maxed out silky smooth and looks great:)
The lighting atmosphere, music and detail in the levels, puts a lot of modern shooters to shame IMO
 
Is there going to be an option for people who already own it on steam to "upgrade" to the BFG edition.

I already own them and paying in full for slightly better graphics and 8 extra levels seems unfair.

Don't think so. If you an wait till Christmas it will go on sale.
