Doom 4 screenshots

Doom one was a 100, Doom2 was a 110, Doom3 was a 50, Doom4 will be 55?;)

And Rage wasn't a Doom, it was a finished Daikatana:p

Am I only the only one who thinks these screenshot/concept images look and having nothing in common with the Doom franchise? Isn't Doom primarily a Mars set game? Not an Urban car park or forest etc lol

thing is if you make the effort and stick all the mods on doom3 thats about (lot of messing about though :p ) it looks better than a lot of games that are triple a titles now !

for how old it is thats quite a achievement .

Doom 3 was an excellent game by any measure, although it went downhill a bit once you got to hell.

That's when it finally got going!! I was dissapointed when i was dumped back on the mars base and had to back track through the levels. It was rubbish in general but the hell level made up for it a little

I liked Doom 3 and expansion i finished it many times. I didnt like the hell bits either:p

As for doom 4 set on earth, thats what doom 2 was set. Also i got the second novel and thats set on earth.

Doom 3 was a good game, scary enough but only due to the close up view and how the demons jumped right in front of you..

Still remember the duct tape trick for the flashlight..

I managed to get Doom3 installed on my windows 7 systems, however couldn't keep it at 1080 x 1920 as each time I quit the game it would reset to 800 x 600.. Quite annoying - still a good game.

If doom 4 is using the same mega textures as Rage - erm hope they get it this time where if you look close to an object it doesn't look like we're back in 1990... Rage was awesome to look at until you zoomed in on object - then it turn real ugly real quick...

Hell on Earth setting could potentially allow for masses of guys running at you like the classics but I bet you get funnelled into sidestreets with a guy going "boo I'mma scary."

With Carmack stating that it will have three times the graphical richness of Rage (which in 'some' instances looks very nice imo), and if they adhere to the successful formula of the earlier games, it could come as no surprise that Doom 4 will require a decent rig to run it at to a high standard on the pc. I can't see a modern day level design with scores of enemies raining down on you without dishing out a lower frame rate, that is before the usual six month or so down the line where newer hardware is able to raise the bar again. If you can access the rooms in buildings and generally really allow the player to explore coupled with the old school game design of having numerous enemies on screen (and hopefully many levels), then it will naturally take a substantial chunk of system resources.

On a side note and although most certainly unofficial, I do quite like some of the art work out there :
