DOOM benchmark Result Thread.

AMD needs a 1st day driver for Doom.
and on the topic of vulkan, i hope Doom would be the real proof of concept that shows some great perf equal or better than DX, if this happens maybe Devs will be more confident using it, talos was a quicky one Dev show.
they have much more to gain with Vulkan windows than linux, compatible through multiple iterations of windows and platforms, they just need to man up and adopt it, AMD usualy need a significant user base to justify stretching their already thin resources, if Devs start making games with vulkan or re-releasing Vulkan ports, AMD will get right on the vulkan train.
all goes back to game developers, if they make games for it, vendors will have better drivers, and software will follow, if they dont we will have openGL scenario again, but this time around i think vulkan have the performance and simplicity opengl lacked.

Sorry putting the whole Nvidia vs AMD thing aside...with result of the 290X and 390 being slower than even the 380X and GTX960, I don't know if it is sensible to think the benchmark result is a reliable or accurate.

FYI amd releases there day one driver before nvidia.

This is not the first time lower end NVIDIA cards, (particularly the 960), has unusually high performance on release of a new game where NVIDIA has seemingly held hands with the devs to get a headstart on AMD. I'm more inclined to think it's down to NVIDIA's day one driver giving them a unnatural edge on AMD cards. The 380X GCN 1.2 card seems to be surviving a lot better than the GCN 1.1 Hawaii cards. I'm sure performance will improve vastly on the 390/290 with some good drivers from AMD. Just because AMD have released a driver with "support" for DOOM it does not mean it's been optimised very well apparently.

I don't seen much credibility in those benchmarks above. My playing at 2560x1440 all max setting bar the two nightmare options and it's never dropped below 50fps other than at the very start. It normally between 60-70.

So unless they captured their results using the first 20 seconds of gameplay it seems a little iffy to me.

Bearing in mind that AMD's crossfire support for OpenGL is, well, absent - what are the expectations around crossfire support for Vulkan?

(Selfish question as I'm using xfir 7950 Boosts at the moment...)

Because it doesn't show AMD leading. You must have realised by now that it is his way? I personally don't care for who is winning/losing, so long as the game is playable for me and friends.
Yea well, it was the other way round with layte think the benchmark he quoted is more accurate because it shows Nvidia is dominating AMD, claiming it should be more reliable than the one in the 1st post of the topic ;)

I still cannot get my head around how the 380x is destroying the 290x and 390 in that bench, even IF the newer GCN version of the 380X did help :p

Like I say, so long as it runs well for all, that is all that matters. The game will be Epic (no pun intended...)

It always matters to whoever ups an opinion blaming one side or the other instead of both of them, if it didn't matter to you there would be zero input on the matter

It's pointless thinking it'll be different from any other results thread, always the same regardless who's on top, there is always moans from the other side regardless.

Edit- From reading about, everyone should just be happy the game is running well in the first place, it doesn't happen very often.:p

Not true...for this game, I'm much more worried about the gameplay than the frame rate to be completely frank! :D

Personally I don't care about the multiplayer too much, I just want the singleplayer story/campaign to be an enjoyable experience. Loved Doom 2, and Doom 3 were different but I enjoyed it with it felt like 1st person Resident Evil in space, and much more of a survival horror than a Resident Evil 4 itself was :p

Doom never felt anything like resident evil to me. First time I have thought about it or seen the two mentioned in the same sentence actually. Lol :p

I also do not care for the multiplayer portion, just hope single player is good :D
