That's cool. My understanding of MOBA style games is pretty low unfortunately, kinda hard to make good calls about stuff.

I'm considering watching the Arena on the GD Studio tonight as it's the Dota 2 rotation, perhaps i'll learn a things or two.
 
Not usually one to do this but -

I got offered a DOTA 2 key, and obviously took it. But after putting in the key, I am unable to download it because of 'region restrictions'.

What do I do?
 
OK It has been a long time since I posted in this thread.

I have 2 Dota 2's in my Steam (Dota 2 and Dota 2 Test). So I assume I own DOTA 2.

I know not the first thing about the game, so I haven't played it. Has anyone got any tips on where to start, characters to choose? Anything at all?
 
Hey guys ! I've been playing Dota2 for a while now (I have over 100 matches won) but I mostly play with random people/matchmaking and I was wondering, if there's an OCUK channel in there and people playing, I could tag along in the evenings.
The thing that bugs me the most is people leaving/DCing during the game and ruining it for everybody. And it's really not that fun with strangers. Oh, and too many russians!

Just got my key, someone should make an OCUK Dota2 page on steam, that's if there isn't already one.

I'm a complete newbie to Dota, played LoL for a while. Dota looks far more slower paced and harder though.

never heard of dota2 being restricted to region tho, it has servers pretty much everywhere these days :o

been playing it on and off for 8 months, still play most nights atm. :)

it can be a good idea to watch some streams to get an idea as to what todo etc, but really your'll learn more playing then watching, blindly following what "pro" players do may help you in the short term, but playing and watching your own replys will help more seeing where you go wrong, spotting your own mistakes :)
 
So i decided to go ahead and buy 2 keys so i could trade for an invite, even found someone reputable to trade with (so i guess anyway based on his redit comments).

Turns out because i decided to make a new steam recently that i cannot trade the keys for what i think is 25 days! (had a successful transaction 4-5 days ago) because unless you have had a successful buys more than 30 days ago your not trusted by steam! crazy!

Sucks so bad to be me right now, all these first world problems im having.

EDIT: Ended up finding someone who was willing to trade for steam wallet, i still couldn't directly gift him the games i got (shoot many robots 4pack, i even got to keep one of the copys!) ... but i could email them to people so he made 3 fake email accounts and i did it that way.

Anyway now my first world issue is to learn how to play because sucking is bad!

I'm in exactly the same boat does anyone have any tips?
 
I really wish russians would have their own servers away from eu . every one I've seen is completely dumb and refuses to speak english , 1 russian on my team and I know it will be another loss

They do.. but they still use the EU servers because they're all massive trolls..
 
Russians really do drag the game down. Some are OK but let's face it, the majority are morons to play with. They should be restricted to RU servers unless they queue with an EU friend.

Lol! I've played dota on and off for over 7 years - since 5.84b days.
Icefrog taking over after euls/guinsoo. 3rd party programmes circumventing bnet to minimise lag become an intant hit. New items introduced. New heroes introduced. Creep ai tweaked. Base damage tightened. Currier introduced. Heroe animations reworked. Neutral camp placement changed. Easter eggs come and go. Metagame changes over nd over again. Balance changes. More balance changes. Bug fixes. More bug fixes. Standalone dota announced. Valve beats blizzard in the courts. Competetive prizemoney skyrockets.

2 constants: rage and russian/braz/pinoy bashing.
