double glazing prices

Hampshire. Company are on check a trade under J K Home improvements. They are a great company. I also got my front door replaced by them and recommend them to anyone getting windows and doors replaced. quality of the windows and doors are great.

My main advice is stay away from the big companies Get like 6 quotes from local small indendants that dont have massive over heads.

How much was the front door?

Anglian have just quoted us £4.5k for 7 windows and a door, provided we take it on a flexible finance deal. I'm very tempted, given that it's a big name company and I'll be able to pay it off in time to avoid much interest on that...

Sounds expensive I paid 1600 for 7 windows including one bay, didn't include a door but a very good standard size door is 1000 fitted a cheap one maybe 700.

Hmm. Was that custom made windows? The people before us put in stock ones and there's places where there's more silicone than frame and it's so draughty, so I'm quite taken with the idea of things being made to measure.

Yes made to measure most are it's very rare to find off the shelf windows unless your in a volume builder development then they are £80 a window, the reason for the mastic is they either they didn't use trim which is lazy and cheap or they under measure because they aren't confident with their measuring ability, where are you? maybe I can suggest someone.

Ive just recently had our 3 bed semi updated with double glazing throughout. After doing a fair bit of research online i decided to contact a local firm rather than one of the national firms after coming across the local double glazing prices website.

I was quoted just over 6K with Safestyle and saved almost 2K by going with a local form who did the whole job including patio door for just over 4K.

Shop around locally and you should be able to find a better deal that what most national companies offer.

Hope this helps.

Jack

I've done door knocking. As pointed out the whole sales pitch is BS. Every product has a min sell price, it's up to the agent to boost the price to make more commission.

Min sales is normally 5 per week (failure means the sack)
Good ones do 2-5 a day, and easily rake in 1k+ a week.

Had my windows done about 7 yrs ago, had a few quotes ranging from £5k to £20k:eek:.

In the end my uncle, who is a builder done them for a grand total of £1k and that was just labour for 6 windows front and back and the front door...he supplied the windows and door which were at the time pretty good decent quality windows. Havent had any issues with them so far and it helps keep the heat in and the noise out as i live on a busy road myself.

Did my whole house (8x dual opener windows, 2 sets of double doors, 2 side screens, 2 screens for the front door and a back door panel) for £2000. The glass is all top spec and laminate where possible, for security.

I did work for a sealed unit manufacturer though :)

Often the smaller customers of ours would pay more per unit versus our bigger customers but the bigger customers would charge more. For instance, our larger customers could buy an all-singing all-dancing A rated unit with flexible foam spacer for the cost that the smallest customer could buy a bog standard aluminium unit.

It really depends on your spec and how much they want to rip you off.
