Dover Ferry Queues

Well it is, because those people aren't getting off the plane in a car. 200 people can fully disembark from a plane and be processed in a relatively small space, allowing the plane to leave. 200 cars can't, and if there's any sort of delay, that could lead to ferries being stuck while cars queue off the ramp.
What is it with peoples ability to read things properly? Do you understand what a sentence is and why chopping it up like you've done would be considered quoting something out of context? Or is it when i said "and no different than dumping a ferry full of people on "the other side" en masse at Le Havre or any other port" that because that didn't fit the car narrative thing you've just plucked out of your backside you thought you'd chop that part off.
I don't think Le Harve has anywhere near the frequency of sailings that the Dover-Calais route does, so its not an issue there....ferries at Calais have a much shorter turnaround time.

Edit: a quick Google suggests there's one Portsmouth-Le Harve sailing per day...and 25 per day between Dover-Calais. Quite clear to see that any delays at the point of disembarkation could quite quickly lead to problems on the latter route, and a logical enough conclusion for it not to be mocked as "hilarious".
Man alive the level of peoples reading skills in GD is awful, what part of "every other border crossing in the entire world" was it that you didn't understand? frequency, travel time, and any other guff doesn't apply because there's examples all around the world of crossings being more frequent, travel time being less, cars & lorries & even trains crossing border.

Seriously it's not rocket science, why people think just because it's the Dover Calais border crossing that it's somehow special is dumb. If French/English border officials didn't have to travel across the border to do their job they'd have to do it in their own country and if they screwed that up then the repercussions for that would be on them not on the country that they travelled to, juxtaposed controls was a dumb idea when it was signed in 1991/93 and it's an even dumber idea now we've left the EU.
Are you just trolling or can you really not see the difference?
The Dover - Calais ferry only goes to France. It's pretty simple to have the French border checks done before you travel. From an airport you could travel to many different countries, it's not so efficient to have checks for each country done in the departure airport.
Who said anything about the complexity of doing something? I mean it's pretty simple for me pee all over the floor but i don't, just because something's simple it doesn't mean it's the right or even best thing to do.

If the French, or English for that matter, want to start checking who's about to turn up at their border on an incoming train or ferry then fine but if they don't do those checks in a timely manner then the consequences should be on them, it should be down to them to deal with the queues of whatever waiting to be given the green light to enter the country just like it is at every other border crossing in the entire world. There should be nothing stopping people from leaving a country.

What this shows is how inefficient and lacking in resilience the Dover crossing has become compared to the past. Seeing as it is critical for UK trade you would have thought someone would have made plans to deal with this known problem due to the coming changes years ago. Previously when working efficiently with very high volumes there were still problems but nothing close to the past few years.

All these people rushing to line foreign pockets... It would have been nice if they had decided to plough their much needed money into our own economy at this time, considering how much our government generously gave in furlough, and the enviably fast purchase and distribution of vaccines against the Chinese Virus.

But for those for whom getting to France in a timely manner is sacrosanct, I might suggest crossing to Boulogne in a dinghy, there will be lots currently abandoned around Dover's beaches. No doubt once in French waters their equivalent of the RNLI and Border Control will give them every reciprocal assistance and convenience, especially as they have legality of entry on their side.

Because other parts of the world are interesting to visit and this tiny island gets claustrophobic for many people. Cultures and experiences are more important to people and critical to creating a more balanced upbringing for kids too. Plus, the continent and beyond is amazing.

Oh Chris, find a different tabloid.

Ironically one of the main reasons this tiny island is claustrophobic is the number of foreigners and immigrants here ;)

British summer holiday:
Wasps
Pubs
Seaside Arcades
A field with a bench, a bail of hay and a goat called “farm world”
Traffic

Continental summer holiday:
Wine
Swimming pools
Salad
Nice pastries

:D

My British holidays have always been great.

Great food
Wine
Walking in great countryside
No planes
No queues
No chavs because they are too lazy to climb hills
No French people
Rabbit food optional

Winning.
