Some great news on our delivery service DPD, with some massive improvements!

DPD are already brilliant with giving you the one hour time window, they tell you the hour in which they will deliver! Saves you waiting in all day for your parcel!

You can see the video here:

They have gone a step further. Not only do they give you the hour time window, you can now FOLLOW your parcel.

Check out this video below, they are looking to start this on the 5th of August!

This means, you can see the parcel coming to your house, either on your smartphone or on the internet, meaning the time window is reduced to 15 minutes!

This is why we use DPD, for the excellent delivery success rate, great handling of parcels and fantastic information given so you know where your parcel is!

Deliveries are getting more and more advanced, soon will all delivery drivers be wearing a camera on their head so you can see the parcel being delivered through a live stream? :p

*EDIT*

This is what it looks like on your phone. Nifty huh? :)

I have never even had a 1hr timeslot when DPD delivers something to me, no matter where i buy from, so no doubt this won't make the slightest difference either.

Pretty sure Scotland is covered, are you really far out in the highlands? - Next time you order from us, and it doesn't work, let me know so I can see if it is a problem, or if it just means your area is unfortunately not covered.

We are not even in the Highlands but our postcode is classed as the highlands anyway. They see AB38 and that's that even though it covers a vast area. The thing that get me is that one of the three main North/South trunk routes (A95) go straight through our village!! Even worse is that most of the time couriers main hub is in Inverness meaning that our goods then have to travel back south again to get to us. No next day deliveries anymore either. At least Citylink delivered next day for us. Don't even get me started on the loss of free deliveries.

I don't blame OCUK. It's a business and has to do whatever it feels is best for itself. I just wish couriers could give us a fair and efficient service.

Ah. If the postcode is classed as it, then maybe that is why. - Hopefully it will change sooner rather than later, if technology like this is rolling out, I am sure getting deliveries to further parts will become easier and more efficient. Fingers crossed!

I think it will help a lot, any issues you have had in the past, I'd imagine this will eliminate a lot of them. :)

I can't see this on the iPhone.

You should have a link texted to you. - That will open a browser. :)

If you never got the text, then it maybe because you paid with PayPal and the numbers are not transferred properly. - However if you pay via card, the number should be forwarded to DPD and should work as normal. :)

Phone only by the looks of it. Looks like they have restricted the link to come through via text and only view on the phone. Maybe for security reasons.

Ahh so I figured out that I needed to search the tracking number in the 'parcel number' box for it to work. OCUK need to adjust their dispatch email - the direct link searches via consignment and the indirect link says you should put the tracking number in the consignment box, which also doesn't work.

I'm not getting the live tracking... only the usual one hour window. Is this system supposed to work on all one-hour-window deliveries, or only certain vans?

Hi PLazarou,

Do you have a screenshot or a copy of the email, and highlight what is incorrect please so I can pass this on to be looked into and amended! Thanks. :)

Can somebody explain to me why my parcels come from different depots? Sometimes, my parcel(s) will come from the Basingstoke depot, but at other times my parcel(s) will come from the Southampton depot. Can anyone explain why?

In that day, they deal with 3 million parcels, sometimes one depot can be too busy, so they split the load to the next closest depot. It also depends on the drivers route and area as to where he is delivering too.
