Dragon Age III - Thread

DA:O got it for a tenner from HMV on a boring rainy weekend, came home and had a right ol' treat. Was totally engrossed in that game. Shame on you BIOWARE for turning it into the generic dirge that was DAII

ME3 was pretty good bar the ending, I've heard the new ending are a bit better and make up for it.

ME3 was barely any different from ME2 gameplay wise. It just had the most god-awful storyline possible with Bioware making the most flimsy, threadbare stories possible to explain things from previous games. It simply wasn't the RPG they made it out to be.

DA3 will need miracles to be worth looking at.

It was pretty different, and pretty much inferior in every way imo.
All classes being able to use all weapons.
Being able to spam powers ridiculously(I could fire of Slam quicker than my Assault rifle could fire in the end!!).
Awful fetch 'quests'(using the term very lightly) which you get from overheard conversations, whether they end or not, and then a vague description in your journal which tell you nothing.
Everything counting towards EMS, so that they do not have to think at all about outcomes or consequence(the most unforgivable thing bout the game imo)....Annoyed player- "so what difference did XYZ make?" Bioware- "we change a number on the screen....You get more EMS!!!"
Autodialogue which meant you didn't feel like it was your shepard anymore.

I enjoyed my first playthrough of ME3, but only because of the first two games. I haven't played it since, and don't really want to again tbh(amazing considering how many times I played the first two:eek:)

Considering how much I love DA:O, it is quite an achievement of DA2 that I have absolutely no interest in DA3! ....I just hope I do not get suckered in by the trailer again

So is this going to be like DA:O or DA2?

Well according to the fans(?) they are still as retarded as the thinking of DA2

Wow, what a glorious innovative future we have to look forward to.

Or just, you know, play the one released in 2009 that already had that. And full party member customisation. And full dialogue text. And a non-voiced protagonist. Etc., etc.

Most likely it will be more like DA2, but who knows... early days

bioWare producer Cameron Lee tweeted some information about Dragon Age III: Inquisition from the Edmonton Comic Expo. I'll just relay all the information I can find that seems relevant:

  • You will play a human character. So don't expect any dwarf-on-elf action. You get to choose backgrounds but you won't be able to play them like in Origins. We know from before that you won't reprise the role of Hawke.

  • You character will get control over a castle. No context given.

  • Character customization will be greater than in Origins. This includes follower customization. Not sure if this includes ability/skills customization or anything that actually matters.

  • Saved games will transfer over from previous games, somehow... for some reason.

  • "One level in Dragon Age 3 is as big as all of the levels in Dragon Age 2". Not sure if I understand this quote. Are they going for open area exploration? It's built on the Battlefield 3 engine after all.

Sounds decent, no need to make judgements on the hate train or hype one yet, not that it'll stop a fair few on here I'm sure.

I'm looking forward to it. I actually enjoyed DA2 and played it all the way to the end which is quite rare for me. I do concede that it wasn't as good as DAO but I still thought it was a decent game in its own right.

And for that reason, and everything that is lost with it, im out.

Dont belive a word of it. They are trying to make something of what is probably nothing.

Oh great another Mass Effect shambles. no one that the developers are 'focusing on bringing back to DA' played DA2 so what would be the point?

Oh joy. How long before they start with the 'use a big name game to compaire DA3 to' malarky.

DA1 was an excellent and epic game, best isometric RPG since BG. Looks like they are not taking the U turn they said they would. But its early days... <.< >.> ... no... im still out.

Yeah they had already mentioned they were looking at the previous iterations as they had such positive impact :)

I just hope they don't balls it up. I look forward to very few games these days.

I don't mind the whole human only thing tbh. The origins were nice enough in 1 but they lasted 30-45 mins and had no effect on the plot whatsoever besides a throwaway line here and there.

Hopefully it has a decent storyline and good companions since combat was boring in both DAO and DA2.

I won't buy it if the main character has a ridiculous french accent though :p

Also, i hope the elves have bigger bodies or smaller heads, they looked very peculiar in DA2.

They gave rise to little side stories or little 'easter egg' style things in the world as you went along. Such as the dwarven noble which gave a very different spin on everything when you came back to the city and little things like that.

I'm not gonna jump on the bandwagon and say it'll be ****. But Bioware haven't done anything to show that they aren't continueing the trend they showed with DA2 and ME3. Which means it'll most likely be **** and everything they say about the game will be a half truth or complete lie.

DA:O was awesome and one of my most favourite games ever.

I wish Bioware would go back to making stuff like BG, NWN, KOTOR and the like, though. No chance now they sold their soul to EA, I guess. :(

What happened after the whole EA thing, was there a dev exodus?
