Dragon Age Inquisition

Does anyone else get fps drops with Mantle? I'm running everything maxed out at 1080p and it's absolutely fine on DX11, but if I switch to Mantle it stutters like crazy. It seems a little backwards.

Mantle was terrible for me. Not tried it since the patch, but from your experience it sounds like it's still broken. Shame as it really lowered my cpu usage.

1080 mostly high vegetation ultra I think and 2x AA

I struggle to believe you're getting playable 60fps at those settings with a card lower than mine.

EDIT: I stand fully corrected. Just tried the default 'high' settings, changed the effects and vegetation to ultra and put the AA up to 2x... MUCH smoother. In towns it can dip to around 45fps, but mostly between 50 and 60fps... Still get terrible gpu whine for some reason, but yea...

Thanks! When I have time I'll go through the game.

Only 25 hours in - not getting much gaming time recently:/ Still really enjoying it though. Going to try mantle again later to see if it's any better (also installed the new cats.)

OK just killed the Hinterlands dragon and I was lvl 15 !

I still found it really hard at that level. I only had cassandra left. She really is good when specced as a Templar.

Great fight.

I have also killed the Hinterlands dragon but at lvl16 and with 4x mages. I've tried and failed a couple of times to kill the Dragon in the Western Approaches with a standard party format (mixed melee and ranged) but for some reason this seems much harder, maybe I should switch back to my 4x Mage approach for this dragon too? :)

2nd dragon down :0)

It was a lightning one, map was the one with the dam. Don't recall the name of it. The fight was pretty easy, it's only mechanic was "spread out when the purple rings show up"..

Hopefully they get a bit more challenging!

Crestwood was easy. I was a bit overlevelled for that area though. I just went up and spammed my spirit blade (which I highly recommend for mages btw) and it was all over in minutes. The other dragons have always at least had me reaching for my potions though. There are two that I'm struggling with.

Just got the game started... My hair is now incredibly shiny and my face is totally different!

Dragons are easy if you use a warrior with any kind of decent guard ability. I did one solo quite easily by simply holding down the right trigger on my controller. Plus shield bash for taking down guard. That reminds me, I need to check if I got the achievement for killing them all, as I know it is bugged.

The improvement to the 'ping' is welcome though they could hardly make it worse.

Check your graphics settings. Apparently the patch defaults it to lowest for everything for some people.

Anyone have any good places to chest scum and farm some good items?

Killed the Hinterlands Dragon at Lvl 12 1st time, then realized I could've saved more at Haven so back to the start will let you know how I got on once I've Slayed the Hinterlands Dragon again!

Most difficult part about the dragons is the baby ones, all you have to do is an aoe taunt and make sure you nuke them down though. Other than that, as long as you have a shield you are golden. I stuck a +3 guard per hit on my tank too which helped. I also found I had to manually control some of the party because the AI is ****e.

Agreed, you have to have a tank with a shield ideally. Use tactical view to get your party to scatter when the dragon uses its ranged attacks. That should confine the close up damage to your tank, and vivienne's skill to resurrect from a distance will keep them alive.
