Draught Beer/Lager at home?

Considering getting a PD but I have a few questions

-does the beer really taste like draught? I am always disappointed with bottles at home but never know if it's psychological or really that much different draught
-what's the running cost in electricity?
-would you guys with one get it again?

It's 210 with a keg at the moment with the 70 off offer.
Just in time for summer.

I don't have a PD but I do have the cheaper Sub.

The single biggest issues with the draught machines are:
  • The expiry dates on the kegs are usually fairly short, normally 3-6 months tops.
  • Once you open a keg you kind of have to drink it pretty quick.
  • If you have no one to drink it with, you'll find yourself needing to drink it so it doesn't go to waste.
  • With the Sub at least you have to place a minimum order of the kegs, and those are short dated so forces you to drink more than you might otherwise want to.
If you throw events with a few people who like to drink a bit then it's a good idea, but otherwise I think it's possibly not all that great.

3-6 months? That is a long date?? You dont need to order 500 kegs at a time.
You have 30 days to drink it, plenty of time. (If you dont drink 10 pints in 30 days why would you even consider this machine?)

I have a blade, my PD broke and I didn't replace it, sending back kegs is a hassle and that is the main drawback of the machine. I had a sub as well but sold it, inferior machine in every way sadly.

Yes the quality is excellent.

As I said above, returning kegs is a hassle I just use my blade now.

I don't think the keg return is an issue for me as I post quite a few things at parcel shops anyway.

I've seen a cheap clone (that looks better than the original) on ebay for Philips system.

I think that's gone for me.
I think a month shelf life opened is about right for me. I do worry I'd plan to drink a keg a month. But in summer.. If its on tap.. It would be more like 2!

Expiry looks fine too. Max discount is 3+ kegs? So no need to order more.

Yeah the shopkeepers like to moan about the size of box as well, when you arrange yodel to pick up they rarely show. If you have a decent local shop you may see it differently.
