Dreamcast VGA Cable

Just recieved my Dreamcast which i got off eBay for a very decent price of £30 with 2 controllers, 2 VMU's and 10 games inc. Sonic Adventure and Toy Commander.

Forgot how much i loved this console! Going to get Shenmue sometime this week and i'm tempted to get a DC VGA cable as i'm using the aerial lead atm which of course looks crap.

The VGA is £25 and the Scart is £10-15 so i'm not sure which one to go for.

Does anyone here have a DC and uses the SCART or VGA? Is the quality worth the extra £10?

Thanks guys!

First of all, be more descriptive with your thread titles. If you ask the question in your title, you have more chance of it being answered.

Second of all, VGA is worth the extra effort. Looks a lot better.

It could also depend on the TV and quality of the cable. But 90% of the time and if the game supports it, then the VGA is the best picture quality that it can get. Otherwise the RGB SCART cable is also really good.

Good old ebay. :)

Complete coincidence, but I got a Dreamcast recently, then had this arrive today. :D

You can get an unofficial AV cable from the bay for a couple of quid. Looks fine on my HDTV. :) Shenmue still looks incredible for it's age.

Scart or VGA are both great. As mentioned, it could depend on your tv set.

I haven't played my dreamcast for ages. I rmember I had problems with some games where the system just resets. :(

Ah i love my dreamcast! Moved it to my new house a few days and introduced a flat mates boyfriend to it for the first time, he thought it was the coolist thing in the world! (everyone should get jest set radio!!!)

Need to get a new copy of shenmue, my disc 2 is dead :( (so many other good games on it though!)

This is a known fault with the DC where the PSU needs re seating on the motherboard. I took mine apart and rebuilt it all now it runs perfectly. There are some guides out there on the net.

I've often looked at VGA boxes/cables for my DC but never stumped up for one, I need to as my scart cable is pants.

Power Stone = win!
Virtua Tennis = win!
NFL Blitz = win!
I used to love my Dreamcast, but I stupidly sold it many moons ago :(

When consoles die, they go to the Great Dreamcast in the sky. The true, high pinnacle of console gaming that may never be seen again.

That is all

At least he knows the difference between bought and brought.

I actually had one of the first few dreamcasts (jap import with the pic of SEGAs president on the box)well of the early ones anyway. Only got Virtua Fighter 3 left but it does have the bonus disk of codename eagle was it with it.
