Dredd trailer

not sure if anyone's mentioned this but looks like a sequel could be in the offing according to the wiki page.

At the London Film and Comic Con in July 2012, Garland said that a North American gross of over $50 million for Dredd would make sequels possible and that he had plans for a trilogy of films. A second film would focus on the origins of Dredd and Mega-City One, and a third would introduce Dredd's nemeses, the undead Judge Death and his Dark Judges. In August 2012, Garland said that a Judge Dredd television series would be a positive future step for the series. In September 2012, Garland said that he would explore the "Origins" and "Democracy" storylines, would introduce characters Judge Cal and Chopper, and would pursue the concept that Judge Dredd is a fascist. Also in September, Macdonald said that further films would be made in partnership with IM Global and would likely be shot in South Africa.

now with them looking at 2 or 3 films i wonder if they will revisit dredd in 10-20 years time for older dredd. as dont forget he's aged through out his life in 2000AD. could be a good series eventually.

Have they mentioned the possibility of more films? This film flopped and failed to make a profit, so I would be surprised if more were made. Hollywood loves a good bit of profit, and will churn out any old pile of manure as long as it makes money. *sigh*

Judging by GAC's post at the top of the page, hopefully, yeah :)

Not sure about a Dredd TV series judging by the awful Robocop and slightly dodgy Terminator ones though :/
Still, it could be bloody awesome if done right, but that goes for pretty much anything I guess...

It didn't make its money back at the cinema but has gone nuts on bluray. They sold well on the way to 1 million units in the 1st week in the US alone.

I saw this at the cinema and got it on Blu-Ray at the start of the week. Watched it again last night and even without all the 3d it was still an amazingly enjoyable film which even my flatmate thoroughly enjoyed so I do hope there are more films to come.

Yep at £11 a shot for the 3D blu ray, it was a no brainer to get it...cheaper than other blu rays and i was actually wondering if the price was correct when i ordered it a few weeks back off amazon.

Ive watched it about 3 times since i got it on blu ray and cant get enough of it. Such an awesome movie, saw it at the cinema with the missus and she absolutely loved it too. The 3D in the movie is probably one of the best ive seen.

Probably watch it again tonight as there doesnt seem to much on TV these days.

Missed it in the cinema so can only judge from a 2D DVD but I liked it. As someone who read 200AD from about issue 75, Urban nailed the character given the limited plot line. Anderson was good although I don't know why they felt it necessary to make her a mutant. There were lots of great baddies they could have used and I get why they didn't go straight to Judge Death as there wasn't the budget for that; Chopper would have been great and I really hope they do America one day.

All in all, I liked the movie and really hope they let Urban do another one soon.

What? Anderson is and has always been a mutant, thats the whole point of her character.

There's no way they could've had the dark judges in this first film. It would've been a hell of a lot to take in for new audiences who aren't familiar with Dredd lore and pretty difficult to fit in with a film that's introducing us to the main characters and the world they inhabit.

And yeah, her psychic abilities have always been a mutant thing :)

That was my thought, I didn't follow 2000AD compuslviley when I was younger, but psy talent is not a normal thing, thus almost certainly (by definition) a mutation of some kind, albeit a small non visible one.

I must admit I really enjoyed this film, even more so the second time round (I watched it at the cinema in 3d, then got given the Blu-ray), even my father enjoyed it.

On a related note, I've been listening to some of the Big Finish audio dramas and really enjoying them (they're good to listen to whilst working on models),

The point of her character is that she's a psychic; it has never been stated in any of the comics that her talent is a "mutation" as in "a mutie" - those who are barred from being in MegaCity1. In this film, it was made out that special allowances were made because she was a mutant - implying that she wasn't just a psychic but a "mutie psychic". This is not in the comics.
