I don't think they give out fines along with a prison sentence, could be wrong though, she did get a complete deserved 3 year ban though.

Prior to realising that she can actually get help with her addiction inside, no, I didn't. Prisons are about rehabilitation, not punishment.

For this, she should have been locked for longer, given a community service sentence on release and banned from driving.

Sorry, can't see how you can say that 6 weeks in prison for being over 5 times the limt with a child in the car is unfair.

Double the sentence would have been fairer.

Look on the bright side. She was lucky she didn't kill someone/herself/the child

I think the sentence was unfair in respect of her mental condition and addiction, not unfair in general.

How's addiction an excuse? Shouldn't make any difference.

Five times over? Kid in the car? Six weeks seems fair; although perhaps a suspended sentence conditional on her completion of a rehabilitation program would be more productive.

By mental Condition do you mean by being an Alcho?

If so then the sentance still isnt unfair on it. She can be an Alcho, she just has to keep away from 1-2 tonne chunks of metal that hurtle down the motorway and near other people.

No it's not, 4 months is the max. She was told in court that if she'd been up in front of the other magistrate then she'd have been given that sentence as their child was killed by a drunk driver.
