Drink driving update

No she didn't compared with some.

I know a bloke who was massively over the limit ( i can't remember how much but i'm sure he blew over 100 and got half a page in the local rag.) and was pulled. He got community service, big fine and a three year ban.

The reason he didn't go to prison: his brief.

He convinced the court that he was under stress becasue his business was struggling, hie girlfriend left him and he had been driven to alcohol by it. Everyone who knows him knows he became an alcoholic and stopped going to work and then his business started to struggle and his girlfriend left him.

It's disgusting that he didn't go down when other cases - like this one - do.

He has seen the light, for now, and is off the booze and back at work but time will tell. Alcoholics are a funny species and never fail to let you down :(

She is in Ireland, they are more strict on driving offenses, England.....well drink and drive, drive without insurance and a licence, you would be lucky to get a ban.

Just another quick update, my sister was released on parole a few days ago after serving 2 weeks of her term, unfortunately she went on a binge again the following day and the police found her dead having choked on her own vomit early on Saturday morning.

Could an admin/mod please close this for me? Thanks

While its an awful end to the story, my Dads an alcoholic but no one made him that way but himself, the same as no one poured all that drink down your sisters neck but her.
Its her child I feel sorry for when she gets old enough to learn how her mum died.

Tragic :(. There are a lot of people in here who obviously don't realise that alcoholism is an illness and while she was right to receive her sentence, she didn't deserve to die from her addiction. Should have kept her in longer really, it was probably pretty obvious she needed help. RIP

I do. Now all we need is social services to step in and sort the child out, and its a good result all round. What a poor excuse for a parent.

Since the OP has stated that the child is in the fathers custody, why do you feel social services should be sticking their oar in now? Do you believe the child is in danger now?
