Dripping with style or floody disaster?

Sorry to hear about the leak.

Had a quick google because i can't believe you need a extender for it as well.

All i could find was someone saying the top ports are only compatible with EK fittings.

I find that hard to believe too. Surely if it is a G1/4 fitting with a o-ring, it should work regardless of brand.

That's what I thought mate, but looking at it the outside of the actual fitting is hitting the top of the port before the O-ring is touching the indented piece inside. Tried it with 2 O-rings just to test and the outside of the actual fitting is still hitting the top

Think this is what I need, so ordered one and will see... Just annoying having ANOTHER delay to such a simple build.

Damn that is unlucky, If I could I'd send one over to you as I wan't to see this system in it's prime :)

Cheers mate, luckily I've managed to find one in stock in the UK, it's just annoying being held up again by something so daft. Still, should all be worth it in the end :)

Well what the girlfriend calls 'the bomb making kit' is here and looking good, now I just need to mount it somewhere...

IMG_20151226_102856.jpg

What I'm thinking is make a bracket to hold them both horizontal a few cm in front of the board, roughly where the red rectangle is. Reckon if I raise them high enough to route the cables back underneath the boards & out through the holes under the motherboard it should look fairly tidy... Now back to OcUK to order some silver fan extensions and Molex's :D

IMG_20151222_132709_1.jpg

Any other / better ideas on where to mount them greatly appreciated :)

Looks great, love those fittings, go really well with white tube. Yeah some kind of bracket there would look very nice can't really see any better places for it to go :).

And I know your pain with EK ports, 1/4 fitting but they are machined down so the plug sits flush. Which is annoying as other brands are different sizes.

Just a thought for the LT, when I had mine I attached it to the back of the motherboard tray, out of the way whilst still plenty of space for wires, although if that case is anything like my ITX version, then there isn't much space.

Cheers Tyler, love the Monsoon fittings but as you said, they definitely need white tubing to get the best from them :)

Yeah that was more than annoying, although it is partly my fault for refusing to RTFM and order the extender when the top came... Never mind, at least it's an easy fix :p

Was looking at that mate but not enough space unfortunately, it's tight enough just for the cables! Was also thinking about putting them on the floor of the case next to the PSU, but again I think it's going to be a bit crowded and could end up damaging them :(

Think I'm going to have to get a bracket made up and see what it looks like, then decide if it's hideous or not and go from there :p

Excellent stuff, it will be great to see it fitted inside the system and the lights on. I thought their were places inside Phanteks cases to fit fan hubs as on the Luxe you can mount one in the back :)

Yeah its got a fan hub behind the motherboard, but hey, why use that when you can make things a lot more difficult instead... :p

Wouldn't mind seeing yours with your LEDs running. For my evolve ATX I used a none PC RGB LED strip so I have full control over colour spectrum and intensity, I have the same LEDs (5050 type, because bright as ****) under my computer desk which I'm currently modding to better suit my eyefinity upgrade, they are also behind my beds headboard so I have accent lighting throughout the room and I plan to run a strip behind the wall mounted TV. I'll probably tie them all into my PCs PSU but need some decent 4 core wire to run under the edge of the carpet. £20ish got me 10 meters of waterproofed self adhesive 5050 LEDs, only used maybe 1.5m in the evolve with a full loop of the windowed side, may interfere with the AIO/rad mounting when I add one next year with the rest of the build but it looks pretty sweet so worth the ballake down the line.

I find the window a bit flimsy on the evolve, my old case has toughened glass but I do like how it catches the light from the LEDs like pearls of light running around the edges of the window, but my god does that thing get full of static am constantly wiping the dust off :D

Thanks mate, it's my first attempt at watercooling so pretty pleased with how its gone so far. Not getting too smug until it has been leak tested though :D

They're a tank of a case aren't they, my last couple have been Lian Li but think the Phanteks is better built, and the cable management, HDD / SSD mounting and cooling options are different league!

If you went with a 240 or 280 slim in the top you could easy fit a full fat 240 in the front and still keep the HDD bays. Unfortunately as I went for a 360 in the top I've had to go with a 120 in the front, but should still be more than enough for CPU + 1 GPU :)

My old case was a Lian Li and I've built a load of systems for others in them, exceptional cases, My old Lian Li however was a custom modified jobbie by Voodoo PC I was lucky enough to grab from a friend years ago when he upgraded, full anodised red internals, black externals, a 5mm aluminium front door but sadly limited to 80mm fans front and rear. I'm making her into a backup PC/download box etc, gonna kit her out with new fans and some LED strips and she can sit under the desk looking awesome :D As you say though the work in the Evolve is just exceptional, there is so little wrong with this case it's hardly worth mentioning. They could however have fit 3x140mm fans in the front with little tweaking, that's my biggest gripe.

I don't like fat rads myself and I don't think the evolve quite pulls them off aesthetically, if they did a full tower version I think they would suit. I recon I'll be going for something like the EK predator 360 though, or a 280 perhaps if they make a version of that, but I'm months away from sorting these bits n bobs out, I have 2k saved for this build so far but it's next gen everything so almost nothing on my list released as yet! A few 6tb hdds soon so i don't have to use the add in rails (although they actually look really good!) and get slightly better air flow, 1440p eyefinity setup after that then x99 base system, then HBM2 ATI gfx, then it's just bits and bobs like AIO, LED fans, and braided cables etc.

Jesus, that's not a bad idea mate when the non PC parts are that cheap! I've gone full Aqua Computer... Not cheap at all but luckily the Missus was paying :D Not sure she'd be too happy if she came home from work and I'd mood lighted the entire house mind... :p
The window is definitely on the flimsy side and you ain't wrong about the static, put it on the carpet for 5 minutes and it goes back on furry :D
I was always a massive fan on Lian Li cases, but unfortunately over the last couple of years I think they've remained almost static, while the rest of the competition has leaped forward with new ideas. Would struggle to find a Lian Li I'd buy now apart from one of their desks.
Not going to go mad with the lighting at all in my Evolve case though, just going with a strip down the rear edge by the window and then another along the top behind the rad, with the brightness turned down to give just a slight glow... Oh yes, and the power LED has been changed to an RGB, so I'll be using that on white, changing to red and then getting brighter when GPU hits certain temps :)

UPDATE TIME: Parts I was waiting for have arrived today, so I've got the loop finished, checked it boots etc and all looking good, so when I get a few minutes will chuck the OS's on it and post some final pics / videos of the build :D

Could try making a PCI bracket for the Aquaero.

Seen this thread, post 45.

Not sure how hard it would be, but could be an option.

Looking forward to seeing it lit up. :)

Not a bad idea that mate, and definitely one I'll be taking a look at. Love the Aquaero and the lights look awesome, but damn they're a pain to mount when you're short on space! Guess as long as it looks good when it's finished it's worth the short term ball ache :D

Right, I've FINALLY got the loop sorted thanks to this part arriving, but I do think it might have put me off EK parts for life. Buy a reservoir, then buy a multiport top only to find out you also need the internal tube. Get one of those and then find out the multiport top only works with EK fittings, unless you splash out AGAIN on an adaptor... Then you realise they used the only size allen key that NOBODY owns (9mm), but which they very conveniently sell. Tidy!

Oh well, it's done now... See ;)
IMG_20151231_164421.jpg

So I boot her up, refilling the reservoir as it boots and watching the new joint like a hawk, enter the BIOS, and... No M.2 showing :(
IMG_20151230_190232.jpg

Update to the latest BIOS via USB, reboot and... Nothing. Zilch. Just rebooting over and over again. DAMN! Not to worry, download the 2nd newest BIOS, update once again via USB and... DOUBLE RESULT! :D

Temperatures not looking too bad after 10 minutes of doing absolutely nothing but leak testing

What's the consensus on the XMP settings for the RAM? Heard you shouldn't up the voltage much on Skylake but was only running at 2133MHz as standard. Did try the standard MoBo settings to Auto clock it to 3200MHz, but that set the voltage to 1.5v :D

As you can probably tell from the colour of the first picture I've got one of the LED strips in, just need to mount the Aquaero and light controller properly now when I get the time to make a bracket. Did should a quick couple of vids to show the lighting as it is currently, but with the speed of my internet in the evenings it's a no go for now, so will upload them in the morning :)

Ahh another black and white build, great inspiration for me I can't wait until my next upgrade, hopefully soon where I can start a new build. I am loving the white tubes, but the overall build is nice and tidy!

Cheers for the kind words mate, will you be adding a build log on here when you start the new one? Look forward to seeing it :)

Soooooooooo, to the update! Just a couple of quick vids to show the Aqua Computer lighting, although as stated previously this is with only 1 of the LED strips in, other to be mounted in the top behind the radiator once the Aquaero has been fitted properly :)

Sorry about the poor quality, was shot on a Nexus 6 so never going to be brilliant!

Oh yes, and as the motherboard has woken up and finally realised that there is an M.2 drive, I could finally cover that god awful green board :p

Much better, although won't even show once the Aquaero is in :)

EDIT: Just noticed the videos weren't working, so posted them as links instead

I like the M.2 heatsink. Completely pointless functionally, but looks tons better than the green.

My current build uses a green M.2, but luckily the M.2 slot is under the ITX mobo, so nicely hidden away.
