Driver Has Stopped Responding - Nvidia Driver Crashes

350.12 probably doesn't support the 980ti. They were released a good while before the card was. 353.06 was the first official set with support.

I'm not sure if what I'm about to type is helpful at all but I've had no problems at all with the very latest drivers, I've been playing Dragon Age, GTA V, Shadows of Mordor and The Witcher 3 without any problem..until I installed the latest patch for the The Witcher 3.

I'm now getting "this driver has stopped working" quite frequently. Hoping a fix comes for this soon.

Same here, I had no problem either and have mentioned before in this thread that I've had trouble free gaming on Windows 10 and driver 352.86

BUT after installing patch 1.06 on Witcher 3, I was getting 'Display Driver stopped responding' after 10 minutes of gameplay. It happened 4 times in a row.

Then I remembered something I had changed a while back in 'services.msc' (Windows start -> Run) to check if the 'NVIDIA Streamer Service" was still disabled, but lo and behold it was running.

So I 'stopped' it and changed the 'start-up type' to 'Disabled' (in properties) and suddenly The Witcher 3 was stable for the next 3 hours....Unfortunately I was then up until 2 a.m. playing it but that's another story.

I'd implore anyone with issues (and who doesn't need Shadowplay) to turn that off and see how you get on. Even if you are having a problem with different games.

The above solution was previously mentioned in a different Nvidia Drivers thread at the end of April, as a way to improve FPS. In my experience it massively improves stability as well though. Try it.

Nvidia streamer service is only installed if you install the useless tat that comes with the Nvidia software that isn't just the DRIVER and PHYSX.

I know, but a lot of people just do a standard install which includes the Geforce experience stuff.

All i'm saying is the only driver issue I had where it kept saying 'stopped responding' in literally 100's of hours of gaming was when that streamer service was running.

So even after doing the hardware polling tweak I would still get the crash once every 1-2 days, eventually just rolled back to 350.12 and been fine since, will stick here for the mean while

Im getting this driver crash/kernal stopped working a few times tonight.. pretty much every time im on chrome and click on this site lol.. it`s not funny though.. i keep thinking my card must be broke but im not having it

Just thought I'd say that I was GPUless for 2 weeks while my 980 Tis were delayed. When I got them a few days ago I did a complete uninstall of all my Nvidia drivers including Geforce Experience etc., and then did a new install of the 980 Ti drivers and Geforce software.

I've had no crashes or problems whatsoever.

Did this with my 980ti.. As I heard of issues.. Didn't help me.

Thought I'd jump in here as I've been getting these driver crashes frequently since upgrading from my GTX560Ti, dropping me to desktop which is annoying. I couldn't figure out what the hell it was up until I saw this:

https://forums.geforce.com/default/...river-stopped-responding-and-recovered-error/

Setting the program settings in NVCP for my games to "prefer maximum performance" seems to have stopped it happening for now. Seems to agree with this voltage drop/ ramping on boost thing that people are going on about.

This is another placebo, such as disabling geforce experience, putting Physx on auto and setting frame ahead to 1

I wish I read this before upgrading my 7970 (which ran flawlessly for 3 years) to this 980Ti. Locking up in GTA 5. I've got it running butter smooth in 4k res. but this locking up is boiling my wazz!

No overclocking. latest driver. :(

Update I have sins done a few things to try and stop driver crashes but still nothing at this time has worked. The amount in which it does it is lower but I am always getting at least one crash on every game maybe more depends.
I am running the 350 drivers at the moment.....Pfftt so much for master race Nvidia drivers

Hi, there are other reasons you could be getting TDR events? There weren't many complaints on 350 branch. That's the problem when everyone chips in, they assume everyone is having the same issue.

Am having driver crashes a lot now on sli 980ti that are underwater and overclocked. It never happens on games only rarely using chrome. Its so derpy lol

Was going to say still having no issues (still not) but I have had hardware acceleration disabled in chrome for ages. Had issues before with it on Amd.

Apart from dirty bomb letting me know my memory was oced too far, no crashing.
