Driver Has Stopped Responding - Nvidia Driver Crashes

I've had magician installed for years and it's never caused me a problem.

This issue is one nVidia needs to fix, not the users. Yes with a small number of people the problem may lie with something they're doing but you don't get thousands of complaints about drivers if they aren't the underlying problem.

No harm trying to troubleshoot it in the meantime... so far these drivers are running without problems for me so interested as to what the root of the issue is and/or to avoid running into it.

For many users not SOME, they either crash every 15mins or twice a week. It's so sporadic you might get one in the next month. The fact that this issue has spread to multiple forums and has ONLY occurred since the last two driver releases is saying something.

It isn't related to overclocking or the GPU model that much is certain

I can tell you from experience it has been happening longer than the last two driver sets on Nvidia drivers.
I just pulled up a screen shot I made with older Nvidia driver on 780Ti cards and I have also owned 970sli/980sli/Titan x sli.

Nvidia said they are going to track down and fix the problem.

Screenshot from 4/9/2014 with 133 stops in like a week.So for me on Nvidia it has been a problem for a long time.

Never had that in 15 years. TDR's can be caused by system instability or a hardware problem most generally

I left the part out where it is the same system used for all the Nvidia cards.
I have also used the same system with AMD cards R9 290/R9 290X crossfire and did not have a problem with crashes on AMD.

All I am saying Nvidia have driver problems for me and have had them for awhile.

Just got my Ti and bang...driver crashes on desktop and gaming... ive heard people switching to windows 10 using a 980 stopped there crashes.. no drivers for the Ti to test it though

Sure it can be unstable CPU,not enough cpu voltage, could be unstable GPU overclock could be a lot of things. My AMD GPU'S work fine. Not here to argue ,Nvidia has problems with drivers.

This.

Most people having issues are repeat Nvidia customers, and it's not their first time at the rodeo. Suggesting elementary troubleshooting steps (although important, but most people having issues are past it at this stage) and vague references to over clocking "user error" is akin to sending the customers on a wild goose chase to buy time until Nvidia figures out the drivers at its end.

I've got 4 systems in use with these drivers - 3 of my own and one I borrowed some bits for testing as I don't own a Windows 8 desktop or have any (higher end) 900 series cards of my own - without so far encountering the issue and none of them get light usage so I'd have "probably" ran into the issue by now if I was going to within my normal usage environment.

Obviously people aren't just making these issues up so I'm curious as to what the cause is.

EDIT: Probably doesn't make any difference but I never install the nVidia HD Audio drivers as ages back they used to be hideously unstable and I've just got in the habit of not having them as I don't need the functionality.

Theres to many people with the problem so i just hope the Batman drivers fix this
