Sounds like a right knob to me.

Hopefully they will ban him for along time, people like him have no place on the roads. I'm hoping that because the insurance is in somone elses name they won't allow the "I need the car for work" story, as it would prove that he was the main driver of the car.

2 words for him. ROAD ANGEL! bet the 300 quid looks cheap now.

My advice is if he gets away with it, which i doubt even if he does need it for his job, is to sell the Supra until he is responsible enough to drive it. Keep 120 for the track. He will probably have to sell it anyway to pay the fine. I dont think anyone who is driving a car worth what 8-10k could use the excuse i cant afford the fine, if i was judge i'd say 'sell yer car and buy a fiesta'
There isnt an arguement for the road being empty, the police where there wheren't they?
I dare say this isnt the 1st time he done it, just the first time getting caught at that speed.

Personally i never go over 100mph. I think it's a good rule. I bet that puts me in a minority on this forum though.

I don't actually think that speed is as big of a factor in danger as publicity would have us believe. Despite this, in the courts speeding over 100 does seem to be the point of no return ban wise.

For reference my dad got 6 points and a fine for doing 88 in a 60 when he had 3 points on his license already. He was actually doing 90-something on the speedo.

How would Road Angel have saved him from this?

Would have alerted him to the radar at least.
If he wasnt doing 120 then he prolly wouldnt have been pulled ;)

do you think that a radar alert system allows you to scrub 50mph from your speed before plod decides to "have you"?

Nah but it might have got him eough braking to get below a ton then lol

If the Police are using a handheld it will be a laser unit. Detectors only really tell you that you have been tagged, but don't give enough warning to drop speed. If they are using a Vascar system then that is time and distance and the only way of avoiding is the Mk1 eyeball on hopefully spotting the vehicle.
