Dropped CPU Temperature 15 °C going from top rad mount to front rad mount with RTX 3080

Why is everyone glossing over the 3080 was what changed things. Not surprising really as it is higher wattage and exhausts the hot air differently. In that particular case it's probably enough to increase the temps substantially.
Nobody is glossing over it. The OP already said the temps increased when adding the 3080 and that is what prompted the OP to move the rad. It is quite obvious that the increased wattage of that component will be increasing temperature in the case.

The OP simply stated the difference it made to the temps when moving the rad. Its a bigger difference than I expected, but if airflow is insufficient to exhaust the excess heat, that's certainly going to explain it.

I'm running 6 X 120mm in and 2 X 120mm out. Works well. I can recommend Demciflex case filters. Just order direct, cheap and easy enough and you can order in any colour you want. Great airflow and filter very fine dust particles.
Thanks for the tips. I assume your fans in are running at a lower RPM than the exhaust fans? Otherwise you have highly positive air pressure in the case, which isn't ideal for airflow (but does reduce dust coming in through gaps in case)

It was more the point that the rise in temperature was more related to the GPU than the position of the radiator. Obviously the characteristics of a particular GPU play a part in which position is better ie one size does not fit all.

Yes I run them at 900-1000RPM. As you say deliberately to keep a positive pressure to reduce dust. It works very well as there are plenty of other places for the air to escape too. Three fans at the bottom blow directly at the GPU. The Demciflex filters are much better than the OEM ones and are quieter too when air moves through them.

The exhaust fans run at whatever the BIOS determines is needed to keep the CPU cool. Ideally I'd prefer a 360mm rad but they stopped selling them for the EK Phoenix.

Interesting, I've only ever gone for built-in dust filters.

They're actually a South African company. You can get some of their range from retailers. They do sets for a lot of cases and will do individual or custom filters. I had to order direct as the PC 011 Dynamic set wasn't available from any retailers. Only $12 in postage and about 5-6 days for delivery.

This is highly relevant to me! I've ordered the O11D myself, but haven't built in it yet. I thought it had dust filters in place already- are you just upgrading them?

Yes upgrading them. I had some on my old 600T. Rarely cleaned inside, just the filters, and there was hardly any dust on the components just some extremely fine stuff I just used compressed air to blow out every few years!

That sounds really good, I'll look into them when I build!

Why would anyone need three 3080s? Also why would you be buying 5 different Ryzen CPUs over the course of 2- 3 years? Sorry, but I don't believe you.
Amazing how I turned into a liar for a post I was trying to help some people out.I forgot to add ,I also owned at least 5/6 GTX 1080ti/RTX 2080 and I may not buy anymore RTX 3080 because there all pretty much the same.I would love to show receipts for all the gear but that would be a pain in the behind. Also note I had a 3800X last month that could do 4700Mhz all core overclock and I replaced it with a 3600XT which will be replace by 5800X/5900X next month. Some people just by things,I hope that is enough proof for you.

So quick recap on the video i posted
4 Different CPU's shown
4 Different sets of ram used
3 Different GPU's used
Not sure how many different SSD's used in the videos
Same case and CPU cooler and I change from top monut to front mount and got better CPU temps

AMD 2600X with GTX 1080Ti

AMD 2600X with RTX 2080

AMD 3600X with RTX 2080

AMD 3800X with RTX 2080

AMD 3600XT with RTX 3080

I apologise if you are telling the truth, but if you make comments like "I could have easily bought more 3080s" and "they are easy to get in Canada" you have got to expect people to doubt you. If even Linus Tech Tips cannot get them (apart from on loan) then I find it hard to believe that you found it easy unless you cheated somehow. Linus tech tips are in Canada.

LOL now your saying I cheated to get GPU ,that is just crazy talk. I did buy 2 online ,one in the morning MSI TrIO and one at night Zotac Trinity on sept 17 2020. Then I wanted a Asus Tuf so I went to the store on Sept 22 2020 7:30 at night ,So i am trying to trick some guys/gals on the internet who live in different content than me.No I just like my epeen thats all I guess.Screw the fan thing ,it was a trick so I could brag about some PC gear I bought.\

EDIT: I have to add on Sept 17 2020.I could have actually went to 5 stores within 30 minute drive, they all had stock.I stayed at home and bought some online. Now I have not check for RTX 3080 in a couple weeks but I am sure now it would be impossible to find anywhere.Just like Linus in Canada

You don't have to prove it. If you have them, then you have them. However, I am sure you know there are hundreds, if not thousands, of members of this forum that are facing a very long wait for these cards. Its a bit insensitive to talk about having 3 of them, especially claiming it was easy, when for 99.99% of people it was impossible even if camping on multiple websites and refreshing every few seconds.

So now I am insensitive to your feelings about a GPU. Mindboggling. Please put me on ignore and stop responding in this thread unless you have the need to insult me again.

You are saying I can only respond if I want to insult you? Umm. No thanks. I said what I wanted to say. Sorry if you were offended by that.

It was a bit indifferent the way they put it, but it's hardly the crime of the century.

Welcome to 2020 when people have hurt feelings because someone has bought something they couldn't get...yet :p You couldn't make it up, I hate to think what our ancestors would say!

It looks like you have the rad vertical with barbs higher than the pump. This could degrade your pump in the future as the liquid levels drop, so keep an eye on the temperatures over time and listen out for pump noise.

This.

It's not a good idea to mount your radiator like this with the highest point being the barbs. If the pipes can reach put the barbs at the bottom.

So if the barbs are higher than the pump it is bad.I am so confused, top mount is also bad. Are you saying the opposite of how things should work n real life ,what is the secret to proper mount of AIO. Radiator below pump is that what your suggesting
