Dubai airport at night

Daven, you know Dubai airport has really evolved in the past 10 years... in 1999 it was nothing, then 2002 it was okay not bad... then come 2006, 2008, and last month, and it's really got better.

Regarding emirates, don't you have to be business class? We took our emirates tickets to the a lounge, and was told it was only for business class people... so we decide to squat on benches near our gate with some mcdonalds :(

Where in Tanzania are you going???? Holiday or family?

there is always the marhaba lounge, used to be 10 or 20 dollars for 4 hours in there. Once in there eat and drink all you can, sleep, or surf. If you are flying Emirates economy then the Marharba lounge is for as long as your stopover, for the same price. And it really comfy. Its up past the irish bar, on the same side. But that was before the new terminal / extension opened, so not sure if its the same.

that sounds pretty good :) thanks

You can book the mahraba in advance. There's another company too... but i can't remember their name... google it. They collect you from the plane, 1 or 2 traditionally dressed asian girls, and they'll take you through all te checks and stuff to a lounge where you can chill out on big leather sofas and get a nice ice cold water. Beats hanging around in the bullpen.

I spent nine hours there a few months back - from midnight - and it was really boring at first.

I walked up and down the duty free area a couple times, grabbed a couple of coffees.....about 6am I wandered all the way down to the bottom end cos the smoking area I was near was full and I found a superb milkshake kiosk - so get yourself down there at some point - on the way back my three hour layover turned into a fifteen minute dash in a blind panic for my connection due to a luggage issue at Bangkok.... I'd rather have been stuck there for nine hours again! Luckily I also had my netbook with me (with rips of some of my boxsets) so I had stuff to do.

Some of the folk I talked to told me how they had four or five hours there, so they nipped out to the taxi rank and got a tour around the city for £40.
