Dubstep, I don't get it.

So glad I explored this thread!! What an amazing tune! The video is pretty mesmerizing too! Some of the other dubstep links aren't my thing at all but this is brilliant. Off to iTunes. :D

Pitty really, the original is really very good.

He's put out a free album called "Dubstep" - full of his remixes, and absolutely spectacular.

Some of the most relaxing dubstep out there (and a couple of awesome dnb tunes to boot).

dub step is still a new setting. this is why there is lots of fusion and mixing like the one above.

should appeal to some rock heads

No point listening to any dubstep unless you have speakers/headphones with decent bass response.

That album is perfectly timed so somehow by the time i've left my house and just about hitting the motorway, Simon Says kicks in...perfect motorway music :)

16bit is a bit awesome really.

some nice dubstep to get into is boxcutter his music is very very well made.

one thing that is nice is that dubstep is very england based at the moment and only a few places have managed to get what dubstep is all about.

i am a big fan of wonky/electronic dubstep like starkey and vex'd and raffertie and the gaslamp killer and slugabed

I've always considered dubstep the act of someone carefully and systematically ruining perfectly good music.

far from it. dubsteps taken off so quickly lots of artists are remixing and taking samples from everything. Not too long ago in the dubstep thread I posted a video of someone using "Charlie the unicorn" samples and adding a dub baseline. Dub opens so many doors. Use 1 or 2 of your favourite songs and search for dubstep versions.

I consider the original version of Starry eyed by Ellie Goulding to be a brilliant song, yet the Jakwob Remix version adds a whole new twist. This happens on so many songs, just look what happened to the la roux remixes. Possibly better than the originals. (each to their own)

Like any genre, dubstep can be sub-divided, you just got to find you place. If you fancy slow pace/ chill out dubstep, then Mt.eden (posted earlier) is a good start. If you like more upbeat / grimier (sp) then this might be for you

Dub evolved from grime. cant get much more british/landan () than that.

Does anyone know any details on Mt Eden? Really interested in hearing more of his stuff but wiki for once isn't very helpful.

Discography or anything...
