Dubstep, I don't get it.

Unfortunately the majority of Dubstep that the general public gets exposed to is rubbish remixes that Radio 1 like to pick up on.

Check out Plastician, Burial, Boxcutter, 16bit, Bar 9 (to an extent), Borgore, Whisker Twister and Tomba.

I'm really getting into it lately.

Only problem is I lack the skills that people such as wobble girl possess, so my dance skills are less than satsifactory :(

OP likes dance, trance, electro and some house, and is surprised at not liking dubstep, why? dance, trance, electro and house are all practically the same genre, all spin offs from house, if you was a fan of drum and bass or breaks you would be more inclined towards dubstep, just because its all made in software doesnt make it all the same

He's got to like this drop though surely.. watch from 1:00 and shut it off at 1:45.

Great thread BTW! Some not so good tracks but also some pretty fantastic tracks too. I just love the fact that everyone's pulling out the stops and showing us their favourites.

I'm very much into DnB but like the OP I'm into pretty much the same. I've only every liked a few dubstep tracks, it just seems so new that there's about 50 flavours of dubstep.

I'm really liking these out of the posted so far:

dubstep is changing atm, imo. Its getting VERY mainstream and vocal heavy too. Some instances aren't bad, but its nice to have some proper dub to blow your mind out :D Awesome chillout music though. Can't beat it

Just stay clear from the main producers of the filth and you'll find some beautiful music.

Try the label Deep Medi for some of the purest dubstep sounds.

Listen to Mala and Silkie, then Quest, Von D and Pangea and you will see what I'm all about ;)

it was ok until it became a student essential and every man and his dog started making tracks with similar bass patches and the same drum patterns. there was once a lot of cleverly made dubstep but it all seems so boring now. dubstep by numbers with no thought gone into it

infact general dubstep fans probably dont even call what i used to class as the best dubstep dubstep anymore. not enough oscillation innit

Wow, a lot of people don't know what dubstep is.. Yet claim to dislike/like it.

That Chrispy Inspector Gadget track is sick.. Hadn't heard anything from him since the Rude Boy remix he did. Unbelievable talent, and only 19 if I remember right.
