Dubstep thread

I did like the filthy dubstep but now it's just like a contest of who can get the filthiest song, ends up with loads of crap sounding sounds mashed up together imo anyway. Still, Emalkay (and Sub Focus and Nosia) this friday should be sweet :D

I agree! The most 'out there' producer that has got it right is Stenchman, and he comes from my home town! Boo-ya.

This is an example of just nasty over the top sound:

As one of the old schoolers who has been into it since about mid '07, I gotta say I just prefer this sort of stuff so much more:

Agreed, the older minimal stuff still sounds great:

There is some nice new stuff around tho:

Shame about the youtube quality however...

Someone like Borgore isn't making these tunes for the dubstep fans, I think he even considers his music to be in a different genre, "gorestep".

Unfortunately there are a lot of people (on both sides of the turntables) who just think dubstep is supposed to be a filthy mess of noise and a beat which is a shame as the majority of high quality isn't 'dirty' at all. I must admit I do have a soft spot for Borgore, but what he does isn't dubstep :p

Not really heard much of it, but from what I just saw linked a couple of posts up was awful (imo of course). I love the filthy stuff as much as anything else but it has a time and a place, unlike a lot of 'original style' (Couldn't think of the correct phrase but you know what I mean) dubstep which I can listen to at any time anywhere.

I echo other comments about a lot of tracks just sounding like a load of others mashed into one track though.

Loving this at the moment!

Does anyone have any other reccomendations?

I don't know if it's been posted before... and I have no idea how I've not managed to hear this track yet but I love it.

It's awesome.

If you are into chilled stuff, I recommend giving some DFRNT tracks a listen.

Not really chilled but a nice remix.

Im currently trying to get Stenchman for a night in Preston Lancs for beginning of may, just confirming venue. If anyones interested let me know. Also may have an hour or so to fill if anyone knows a local DJ who may want to get involved?

Not sure if anyones mentioned already but www.Getdarker.tv is a good site to check out

Loving this at the min

Mate Borgore is excellent at what he does, this track is the first on his Goresteps Most Hated mix, give it a bash :)

Stenchman is awesome live, does a sick show

Caspa and Chasing Shadows on friday. Really looking forward to Chasing Shadows.

@Borgore above: I really seem to dislike almost all of his music apart from Foes (16Bit Remix). Imo the random sounds mashed together dubstep is not good :( though he is a nice guy, gave some of my mates free copies of Gorestep 1.1 when they saw him.

I'm feeling some of the older tracks recently

Kromestar is a great producer and does a really good live set
