Dubstep thread

Watched that ages ago and still keep going back to it, can't wait to see them play at Global, i've been waiting ages for Digital to get them up here but twas not to be :p

Also looking forward to Emalkay, Cyrus and Lost playing at Digital Newcastle this Friday for the This is Dubstep 2011 album release party. Birthday night out too which should make it fun :D

I saw them last year, there was a massive night at my Uni's union which was amazing! It was made better for the fact it was a pretty standard room with low ceilings and not some massive academy or something.

Have a track by French producer Son of Kick:
*Warning* Graphic video but it's on youtube plus this is a dubstep thread so you can all handle it :D Oh and you'll want it in HD to make the most of the bass!

A bit of a heaver and darker track with French MCing/singing.

Have a listen to his other songs and watch the videos, they are brilliant.

If you like minimal dubstep that sticks to it's roots (all that screaming synth is only good for the dance floor), you need to get Kryptic Minds 2009 album, One Of Us and their 2011 album Can't Sleep. Both are like soundtracks to a dirty city night.

Went to the This is Dubstep album release party at Digital on Friday. My god!

Lost and Cyrus to warm up to, playing proper dubstep then moving on towards Emalkay playing a more modern dubstep set, gotta say, much prefer the older stuff! Cracking atmosphere and cracking music, brilliant night. All on Getdarker.com too :D

Really want to go to Electro Vs Dubstep Wars at KOKO 11th September! Oh Oh, also want to go to UKF Bass Culture at Alexandra Palace, Chase & Status and DJ Fresh Confirmed so far.

Epic song from UKFDubstep.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that dubstep is the latest 'nu-metal'.

It was unquestionably fresh when released, but everything new feels like a cliche of what has come before. The genre appears to have eaten itself in a mainstream sense and most people I know have gone off it completely - dubstep is quickly becoming uncool.

Will dubstep be the next nu-metal and be labelled as a fad, or will it continue and evolve?

Thoughts?

It's changed a lot. The original Dubstep is a lot heavier and slower, the music that's classed as Dubstep now days is actually not proper Dubstep, but quite a large spectrum of music.

I think it will continue and evolve, but it will sound a lot different to what it does now, the sound will always change, but for some reason is still under the same name?

Me to! Although i don't know if i'll be in England for it :( I mainly want to go for the Electro stuff though, Steve Aoki is always amazing live!

Loved Dubstep for years but never really posted in this thread. All in all, thought I should make my mark... This is pretty nasty, hope you have a high wattage sub.

I'm mainly going for the Dubstep, but it should be a really interesting mix with such a good line up.
