Duke gets a release date

Had to laugh at the trailer. It's definately Duke. Nice to see they did at least give some credit to Tryptich games in that last section of the trailer.
 
wow this brings back memories of playing the original back in 1996 on my

CPU: 486 SX 50Mhz
RAM: 8MB RAM
GPU: Cirrus Logic 5424 256K
SND: Sound Blaster Pro 8-bit
CDR: 2 Speed

I felt happy coz i cud run it in 512x384 not 320x200 hehe. Ah and making my own levels with the bundled build software, playing multiplayer with my RS-232 null modem cable.... those were the days lol
 
You know, it doesn't matter that it's 12 years late. You just know it will sell by the bucket load, new gamers unaware of Duke's history will enjoy the luls while the rest of us enjoy the luls and then some :D

its not, they started development of elite 4 back in 2000 but cancelled it in the same year. development restarted around 2005 and is apparently still in development but frontier games have been very quiet about it and there now no mention of it on their website http://www.frontier.co.uk/games/

duke nukem forever has, according to all available info, been in development constantly since 1997.

According to the wiki it was ceased to be developed as a mmorpg in 2000 so their was development before 2000.
 
I can't help but think it's going to be the biggest anticlimax of the millenium.

But from the trailer it doesn't look too bad, though like all games like it it offers nothing new but a bit of added humour (from the looks of the video)

:rolleyes: We all know this is going to be a very to the point FPS but the added humour and generally Dukeness of it all will see it good :D

I'm not expecting much other than an absolute blast of a time while i play it! Nothing complicated just all out action and a bit of down time for the strippers :P
 
Finally, remember exchanging home made mods with one of my pals on floppies back in the day (my internet connection was an abysmal 14.4k), build was great and adding your own weapons was an absolute nightmare, still loved it though.

Can't wait for this, after seeing version after version previewed and scrapped and restarted on a new engine it's nice to see it finally turning up.

In November 2006, GameSpot conducted an interview with David Braben in which the subject of Elite 4 came up. Braben revealed that Elite 4 began and ceased development as an MMORPG in 2000, abandoned due to the immaturity of technology for online play. When asked if the game would ever be released, Braben responded "We will do Elite 4 after Outsider, so it will benefit from everything we've done in Outsider."[3] Braben repeated this claim in a Game Theory Show podcast in August 2007

began and ceased, and wasnt in development for the next 5 years until development started on an entirely different game called elite 4.


So it wasn't in development for longer, lol.
