Yep, cos the original guy was a nutcase who kept stalling on it, like everytime he saw something else he liked in a game he would have to include it in Duke (e.g. the train ride into Black Mesa in half-life. Yes it’s been in development that long).
Glad they evenbtually got rid of him (what was his name again?). There's a good article about it somewhere, I think someones posted it here before. The game deserves to me made in some form - better than none.

George has confirmed it wasn't just a case of stalling it but in fact a whole mix of other things and company politics included in that so calling him a nutcase wouldn't be fair because there were more people involved. Going by various articles and interviews with various people in and around 3DR over the last year or so it was pretty clear it was a company wide issue as well.
Anyway, Gearbox people have also previously confirmed that they will stay true to Duke and not rush it, besides, the bulk of the work was already completed by 3DR.

I think I've gone the opposite direction. Even if it is fairly pants, it's Duke. It finally made it. It survived 12 years of idiot management decisions, bad planning and numerous game engine changes.

Yes because clearly everything we have been shown so far tells us that it is not faithful to the old Duke series and that it won't live up to the expectations of Duke fans, those expectations being awesome enemies that are comically huge, awesome weaponry to kill them with, Duke jokes, lack of bubble gum, strippers, action, strippers, ass kicking, strippers.
It is being released, in May....keep up!

The trailer was good but nothing compared to the E3 2001 trailer. I'm not talking about the graphics, the game does look awesome! But the overall quality of the trailer was lacking imo.
How can you have a duke trailer without at least a small clipping from the original theme music?! *smacks head*

Please accept my apologies Mr. Sarcasm! Given the 12 year wait and past experiences of games with big hype that turn out to be utter dross (of which there have been some spectacular ones) then I think my scepticism is more than justified.
This is no normal release. People have been waiting a long time for this so expectations will be throught the roof.
