Just bought new parts and upgraded to a sata III motherboard so I'm wondering if I get sata III cables will my hard drives run faster than sata II?

as far as i am aware there is absolutely no difference in speed of a sataII and sataIII cables, just different looks and build quality.
if it were me, i would get some new cables

but thats just cause mine are all mismatched and poorly designed :S

I believe my HDDs are sata II is there any way I can tell? Will it say on the HDDS? As I did look and I couldn't seem to find what it was

And so I'm ok to use sats II cables in sata III ports?

you could always post the product number of the hard drives or google it

and yeah, sata III is backwards compatible, just like USB 3

Nice link drakioned, shows that, within a reasonable range, the length of a sata cable doesnt even make a difference.
