Dune: Awakening

Im waiting to see how this pans out then I'll buy it on sale just to lvl up.

I honestly thought it was factional from the start. Why on earth wouldn't it be?
A 3 way war is always a good basic start.

Huge wasted opportunity. I guess this is a hangover of Conan exiles? I've not played it did it share a similar endgame ?

Its an odd decision for sure, if I go to the deep desert as an Atriedes, I'm just as likely to be killed by another Atriedes player as I am by a Harkonnen.

I've read some posts on reddit, X and the official Dune Discord and there are grown men having full blown hyper emotional nervous breakdowns over the upcoming DD change, I didn't realize so many mens mental health had deteriorated so far that their daily stability now hinges on a video game feature, Really sad to see.

An interesting and I think good take from their side. I still don't understand why it's not faction based though. It is clear they had a vision for how the DD would play out but simply didn't put systems in place to make it happen.

Faction based would be good I agree but with a small sliver of the DD now being made PvE so people can farm T6 resources which will then possibly make people a bit more brave into entering the DD, I think that's a good move.

Understandable, I've been pvping in games for decades and there has always been a portion of pvpers who are wolves and wolves dont prey on other wolves, they prey on sheep, until all the sheep are gone and then the wolves lose interest and move on. That portion of players who are wolves dont like the DD change (as with similar changes in other games) because it reduces the number of sheep available to them and makes it more likely that they will encounter other wolves instead.

Gaming addiction has been steadily rising for years, though Covid dramatically accelerated it. What's most concerning is how gaming progression has replaced real world achievement for countless individuals, instead of pursuing meaningful goals, careers, relationships, they now structure their entire lives around leveling up characters, completing daily quests and unlocking virtual rewards that provide no tangible benefit to their actual circumstances. For many of them, it's no longer even entertainment, it's just a habit.

Before anyone gets upset, I'm not talking about people who have their lives in order and fulfil other responsibilities. I'm talking about the NEETs who've truly given up on life, for whom the entire day is structured around how many hours they can spend gaming.

Dealing with video game players on a daily basis can be a tough experience especially when they feel aggrieved about a topic and become vocal, and I can only feel for the Funcom Devs across their socials, Discord & forums tbh.

Tascha the PR manager, Has gotten so much abuse, Name calling and threats from toilet cretins over the PvP change, It's insane.

Yeah it's really such an untenable situation for some game devs. I would have swung the ban hammer a long time ago.
If I ever do it in my role, I keep receipts in case anyone tries to play the victim card "Oh they banned me for voicing my opinion about the game!" - when in fact they behaved in a totally inappropriate and vile manner.

So I started playing this and actually quite enjoying it. So I think it's time for me to move on from the the first area...

So my first base do I need to manually take a few trips up north to my new base or is there a simpler way?

Also does gathering resources become a lot easier later on. Like right now I gather 40 copper when I cut a rock will it be like 100 copper later or something

You will get a better quality cutteray, with better efficiency. I just disassembled mine, and built a new one. I loaded my bike with AA much as I could. Then for eaten by the worn. Not happy I lost all I had.

The deep desert, landsraad, the minimum effort control points, the tank that was removed for being obviously useless... gotta say it's feeling undercooked.

I'm sure they envisioned something else and were time constrained, so hopefully that comes to pass.

Not as bad as me. I accidentally deleted my sub fief console after working on expanding my base. It then proceeded to delete all the extra land I had purchased, and it also deleted most of my chests which had tons of loot. It also deleted every single refiner/machine. So I basically had nothing to show at level 90

I will probably roll a new character some time in the future when they add extra content. I don't have the energy to do that all over again :(

Ive sat on the fence with this since launch but i jumped in yesterday.
Lost everything twice to the fcuking worm when trying to get to the next zone and almost uninstalled.
Apart from that its a pretty chill experience, combat is the weakest part of the game but its very immersive.

I got eaten a couple of times on my playthrough. I realised that taking the shortest route between two points helps a great deal. If you try and cover a large amount of distance it will spell trouble :D

I ended up re-buying this, wanted to enjoy the theme\atmosphere, and enjoying it. I realised as above the shortest route is the best but watch out for the red circles as they are drum sand patches and makes a lot of noise. I ended up going to one of the main areas in the second stage, I'm terrible with the names :) , and got killed so many times, respawned and kept dying and in the end re-spawned back at my base realising the hour or so I spent just wasn't going to happen. I was a sword master class and restarted as a mentat but removed the locked research option this time.

On the plus side, once you get an ornithopter the worm virtually becomes an irrelevance

So should i be using my sandbike thingy or just running with that speed up skill? I seem to get the red vibration graphic regardless, what am i doing wrong?

Use the sandbike and just full throttle it across the narrowest points on the map. I've got 120 hours and only been eaten by the worm once and that was very early on before I realised to just cross as the narrowest points.
