Dungeon Defenders

I assume those are the Mythic items you get for completing challenges and bosses on Insane? Can't seem to manage any of them. Tried No Towers with Sharpz but we just couldn't hold it. I don't do enough to 1 shot everything so the Ninja's get me and even if they don't the Kobolds come from nowhere and rush me. Also tried Insane Raining Goblins but the Orcs just power through my defences :(

Edit: Managed Unlikely Allies Insane by the skin of my teeth. Ogre had 300 hp left. Weapon doesn't seem anything special since its not very high level but its base damage is pretty high and it has lots of upgrade levels so it should make for a very powerful sword if I respecced to hero instead of towers.

Is it worth upgrading huntress traps or should I just spam character damage?

I've not played much but they seem useless compared to squire towers.

Traps can't hold back an army like a physical tower can but they have pretty good damage. I imagine they have potential in a team and your allies work them in to the defences properly, but as at least half the players I come across on public are incompetent (regardless of class). If your allies are no good no amount of traps will save em but extremely high DPS and/or very powerful Ethereal Shot can.
Gas Traps are really effective at slowly down a mob or just completely blocking an area because the army blocks the path.

I upped hero damage and trap count about equally until lvl20 and in the right situation you could still dominate the kill board. Proxy/Inferno in front of a barricade will decimate enemies.

Upgrade the trap capacity high as you can it's extremely useful...you usually get trap damage bonus from items around lv20 anyway which you can upgrade too on each item the stat for it.

I think my Huntress is laying 21 mines a go.....probably can manage 40-50 endgame i guess with real good gear.

After lv40 or 50 i was told upping her damage is best then aka piercing shot and hero damage.

By the way Insane survival solo is ridiculous LOL anyone got monster fest mode unlocked?

When you get 9000 on a wave do you get a huge amount on screen?:p think the most i saw was 150-200 lol so far.Nice engine though how well it runs and gfx are quite good to be honest.

Can't wait for the 2 extra classes.:D

You can end up with a huge amount of enemies on screen, yeah. I think it pretty much reaches max at once around 1000-2000 per wave though. It just reduces/eliminates the lulls in the enemy spawns.

Yeah the spawning is so weird. It seems to swarm 1 side with more mobs than the other 2 for a while, then 2 of the doors just completely cut out and they only come from the bottom of the stairs and it gets easier. Then of course towards the end after wave 11 it sends in 100s of Wyverns in an endless swarm for the last 100-1000 enemies.

Would be nice to use an Ensnare Aura on the bridge but there health drains so fast when the swarm gets to it. They'd need constant attention which would defeat the point of the spam Harpoons method.
 
I reckon the ensnare auras are definitely the thing to go for when you've not got as many players. The monk we played with was quite low level so the auras were draining faster than optimal.

There's at least one harpoon that isn't used much with my setup (the one behind the crystal) and the 4 facing each ramp are a bit ott a lot of the time (especially if you factored in a high level ensnare).

I wonder if an ensnare on the bridges below the wyverns would work for slowing down the wyverns. That would be insanely useful for the later waves.

Would only net you 2 auras but I suppose the side bridges tend to get a lot more monster traffic than the middle. I had them set up as 4/5/4. Centre ones were in a cross on the steps, other 2 I didn't have 1 out in front, then 2 in the middle by the lava pits. You could lose the front 1 in the centre without much of an issue I guess.

1 Ensnare on each of the side paths in the middle of the bridge since if it extends all the way down it'll drain even faster. Have to see how it goes. If you position it right at a really high level it should slow down the frontline that much that the ones behind it can't get into it and drain it.

I kept re-spawning without my weapon, most annoying when there's thousands of 'things' to kill.

Has it only ever happened with that weapon? I've never had it happen to me before.

And ffs. Wave 13 Magus Hard, Steam drops connection for a moment and it boots me. That is really getting annoying. Never had it happen before yesterday.

I had that bug 4 times in 1 game....with different weapons and verifying game cache fixed it.(seems the patch didn't patch proper i guess might of been same for you)

I am using the lava beetle gun from bonus level now not sure how good it is, you guys use crossbows for huntress mainly?
 
I've been using whichever was good, only just looked at the wiki to see what the differences are. Atm I'm using the Dancing Cavalier reward from Raining Goblins which is essentially just an oversized M32 Multiple Grenade Launcher (ok, theres oversized and then theres mine, which is so big it clips through my characters head, other ones are more normal ><) which is a little lacking in dps and is fire only and isn't as deadly as I'd like with Ethereal Shot.

Finally got overwhelmed on wave 18. Kobolds blew up 1 of my Harpoons right at the end but that didn't matter as they were the last ones. Problem was the spawn of over 1000 wyverns in an endless swarm. The harpoons couldn't keep up and my hero was a noob huntress who couldn't deal enough damage to help stem the tide. Eventually too many broke through and overwhelmed the crystal :(
