Dungeon keeper 2 (or 1)

Got t working but have to save regular as it crashes every 30 mins or so. Enjoying the game though a real flash back to the past.

My mouse appears to be snapping to the edge of the screen, causing it to scroll wildly off centre. I suspect this is an issue with VirtualBox rather than the game though.

The readme did say that the higher resolutions are unstable. I always save pretty frequently anyway - in case I tunnel somewhere I shouldn't. Anyone who played the Deeper Dungeons knows that the secret to success there in half the games. is knowing where to tunnel, and when. That an an army of level 10 vampires...

Did you change the front end ress to your monitors one?

if so that'll probably be it.

try

then add in extra resses rather thn replacing them.

Unless you mean it;s not crashing just not changin res?

in that case alt + r in game, but the main menu is always small.

It crashes just before the main menu is loaded after the intro video. Have tried the config above at it still crashes.

Man such an epic trip back down memory lane - got to like level 17 over the weekend. Didn't even get to touch any of the custom campaigns - loving it :D

Might have to dig out DK2 also!

Out of the included custom campaigns, which are the most fun to play? By that I mean which are not so ridiculously difficult that to try to play them would be like having your eyeballs pierced with a red hot needle? I tried the "Ancient" one and one of the others and it looks like they were made to be played in a very specific way in order to have any chance.

That's DK2.

Also: anyone else find the game crashes when you go into first-person mode?

M

i've not tried 1st person mode yet! will have to check it out to see if it does! used to love going into it while in combat :D

I've had it happen a few times - I just simply save the game before I possess something. The times it has crashed, it's been near or on lava..maybe that's a hint.

I hope it's just a one off thing because some of the harder levels kinda require you to use possession. There's one of the free play levels thats impossible to complete without it!

I haven't played DK1 for over 13 years. I think level 18 "Blaise End" is the hardest because theres a level 8 wizard along with assorted heroes wandering around close to your dungeon.

Don't forget to find all the "secrets" such as "Transfer creature" to the next level and "Multiply" which clones any creature. Lords of the land, dark mistresses and vampires are the best minions to transfer.

Most importantly of all:- don't download the game since it'll be ruined without the atmospheric CD music.

I find it invaluable. For a start, one of my standard tricks is, once I've opened a way into an enemy area, send one fast creature (mistresses are good) legging it through the enemies dungeon as fast as possible. Maps out everything, and enables me to start lightning-bolting imps while they mine for the other keeper. Also helps with strategy.
