Feel like they should have asked Max to mention to not **** around with flares in his interview, maybe they’d listen to him *shrug*.

They should have stewards for the crowded areas removing these people.

Unlikely, he was slower in sector 1 and 2. Now, his sector 2 may have been affected by knowing he would have to abort - but he didn't look to have the pace regardless. Russell may well have secured a better place, and Sainz was on a good lap but also looked more likely to take P2 than P1.
Interesting, Toto seemed to think Lewis was about 0.1s up on pole. That's not to say he wouldn't have lost some time in S3 but seems to be some conflicting views on whether others were on good laps or not

I'd assume that Toto has better data than live timing gives me. I'd also assume he's also willing to talk up his drivers' chances.

Wonder what they will do with flares during the race.

Very little unfortunately. You have to do something about them before the race, i.e. search people properly etc. It’s an annoying part of some sports, I’ve even been subjected to them at live rugby matches (which is one of the last places I’d expect them). They started appearing at live football in the UK too. When I lived in Germany they were very prevalent at football and just as annoying!

@Tigget is right about it being a hard problem to solve, but - like streakers - they can be dealt with. Don't show the flares on camera as much as possible, ensure that official commentators are negative about them, permanently ban anyone who is found with them, work with fan organisations to limit them, ban fans from venues that fail to control them, etc. But, as yet, it doesn't seem like the sport is willing to act. They seem to be treated as "fan atmosphere" by the promoters.

Perez himself was on a good lap too he was on course for 3rd or 4th. So might have ended up displacing one of the other had he not dropped it.

If a flare goes on the track again I would assume a full safety car to clear it like debris.

Would be hilarious if his fans screw him over by another team getting a safety car stop to steal the win

So the inevitable happened and a flare ends up on the track; utter morons
Also convenient of Perez to bin it when the Mercs were in danger of usurping Max….

The only thing Red Bull are guilty of is making a car so focused to one driver that an average (for f1) driver has a difficult time with it so ends up binning it because the rear end is way too loose for them
