As the title really, Im moving house in about a month and the DVLA I believe want £20 or so for the sake of my address changing and so they can update my driving license which is ridiculous :o

So is there any way to avoid that fee which is pure daylight robbery!

Cheers :)

It was free last year when I moved. Just had to fill in the online application form and send current license (both parts) cut in half back to the DVLA. Took a week or so for the new one to arrive.

Just write them a letter stating you have moved and here is your new address.
I wouldn't bother updating the license, but then I have no need to use it for ID.

That sounds like a renewal rather than just an address update. Address updates are free.

Well then the person that told me it cost £20 is gonna know about it! :D

I would have expected it to be free but I was told by someone at work it would cost. They must have got it confused with what it costs to update the photo part.

Still the cost of doing things like updating passports and driving licenses etc is not cheap!

I did mine 2 months ago online. A bloomin long application process on their website for it, but free all the same.

Are you special?

Did mine three weeks ago, took literally three minutes on a tablet. New stuff came a week later. No charge.
