DX12 CPU Performance Leaked, Way Faster Than DX11 – Threading Model Resembles AMD’s Mantle

Going to an awful lot of trouble posting all these links to disprove something that can't be proved in the first place greg.:P

@bru,

going by the link you posted, it looks like DX12 is going to be a massive disappointment, he keeps comparing it to with Mantle and how the frametimes...

:)

No, it was no trouble at all and better to post something from the respected sites instead of reading your conspiracies.

You AMD guys should be rubbing your hands with joy, as you already have Mantle and you will be getting DX12 as well, so Mantle as well as DX12 is perfect for you guys. The poor nVidia guys have DX <12 and nothing else (I guess we have OGL also).

Here is the link again

Original source article

I'm not sure if you are confused or not, but he doesn't once compare it to mantle at all.

He says that DirectX 11 takes 9 seconds to render a certain frame while DirectX 12 takes 4 seconds.

He then goes on to talk about being able to do more film like rendering in real time, with a modern machine with DirectX12 or Mantle. :)

So on that particular frame it render it in under half the time as DirectX 11.
Quite how that all means DirectX 12 is going to be a massive disappointment I really don't know.

Who cares, an API isn't suddenly going to magically stop the majority of game devs/publishers releasing half made **** to the public and it isn't going to magically stop sub par drivers being released from both sides.

PC gaming needs a bigger shake up then a mere change of API.

I think with nvidia you get everything 1st then amd copy it, then they took the dx api and removed some of the overhead and branded it as a new api as if they wrote the code from the ground up without ever seeing any dx code ( xbone api with amd gfx in it ) very strange how the same few say dx12 is mantle when really mantle is dx11 just for GCN

Wow!

You really think mantle is directx 11 you can not be so wrong.. And for your information it was built from the ground up, all the information is out there from the start of when we first seen mantle and it's slides, showing you why this is completely different from directx.

Yeah mantle is completely different to dx wow, Amd just plucked this api out of thin air to play the same games that dx has done for donkeys years.

Pull the other one

Mantle was a little sapling AMD planted years ago, watered it daily and nurtured it till it was big and healthy. They then showed it off to the world. To prove this, they showed slides...

My advice to you honestly go and read up about it. All the information is out there very detailed information, information I doubt even you would understand.

The way mantle runs games is completely different to how directx does.. Completely different!

Google it and prove me wrong. Google and show me why you think mantle is coping directx or using anything from directx..

Why wouldn't he be able to understand the information? :(

Well, if Shank's understands it. Chances are, nobody else will.
It's probably gibberish.

DX12 is nothing but good news for AMD (and Nvidia and gamers as whole). Mantle set the agenda for DX12 to follow and means that expensive Intel CPUs will be less essential to gamers in future, giving AMD a small glimmer of hope.

The main beneficiary of DX12 will be XBOX1.

@bru,

fixed my post.

To clarify, what I meant was going by the BF4 Nvidia DX users stating their experience looks the same as the Mantle experience(vids), they are going to be disappointed in DX12 performance.

No, it was no trouble at all and better to post something from the respected sites instead of reading your conspiracies.

No conspiracies from the MS MVP source(pre-dating AMD Roys comments) that stated DX development was off the table.

No conspiracy when I pointed out that whatever AMD PR comes out with is BS but in your view whatever Nvidia PR releases is WORD.

Nvidia wooden straight up lie wood they?:p

Pointing out that Forza 5 didn't need DX12 code to run on Windows hardware is hardly a conspiracy either.:D

I'm hoping DX12 surpasses Mantle, Mantle does a grand job, with the resources at MS disposal, I'm looking forward to what DX12 possibly brings over Mantle-seriously hoping MS aren't doing the usual wind up and follow through this time instead of some of the past broken promises.

Alas I can't help it if the Nvidia lads won't touch AMD's Mantle, I run AMD/Nvidia tech so I don't miss out on any gpu features that I want to try/use.

Mantles a positive, really hoping MS can pull it off.
